Just the horrible Will Smith song for that movie is blow-my-brains-out terrible, lol. I never even saw the movie, but that fucking song is STILL burned into my brain from back when the promos were on TV, and it even made it to the radio. That's like 20 years ago, and it still bugs me, lol. I remember it got stuck in my BF's brain at the time as well, and he ended up compulsively singing the chorus and then cursing himself for doing it. Worst thing that Will Smith ever did by far, lol.

I watched their live performance of it online because the headline on Consequence of Sound was "watch Will Smith's dreadful new track debuted live!". It IS dreadful. And I don't mean "I hate all hip hop/dance music" dreadful, cause I do, but even my wife, a big fan of the genre, winced when I showed the video to her. I felt genuinely embarrassed for Will.

I watched Wonder Woman last night -- it was disapppointing. The movie needed more actual badass women in combat scenes and less CGI; I really felt that the movie was better, more creative, and more imaginative before men literally came crashing onto the scene. "All-American type fights (proto)Nazis" is starting to feel like a threadbare trope, too.

I took my 11 year old daughter to see this.  I was disappointed that until the men showed up it was nothing but half naked women who were all in amazing shape training and fighting.

That's funny; my husband sat through that whole part and just kept saying "You're in better shape than any of those women." I think I'll keep him. B)

But that's what I liked about it -- strong, athletic women kicking ass. (I think that's what my husband and sons liked about it too, LOL. I guess I'll keep all of them.) When the action moves to Europe, WW is pretty much the only female character. The secretary is a caricature of a frumpy, uptight Englishwoman, and the evil scientist, while female, has no backstory, few lines, and is disfigured (ugly = bad, super-hot = good?), but we don't know why.

I'm looking forward to "Professor Marston and the Wonder Women." I hope it gives us fully-developed female characters (although it might not be suitable for an eleven-year-old).
