And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.
  • This one hurts deep. Tom Pettys songs were an ode to American love stories. They were about following your heart and taking a chance on the girl u love. They had such an underlying message of hope. Tom petty was what I listened to in the car , on the way to some of the best times of my life. When my daughter was born if she had trouble sleeping I would rock her to sleep to the song wildflowers.  Cant belive this day.

And wherever you've gone...and wherever we might go...
It don't seem fair...today just disappeared...
Your light's reflected now,... reflected from afar...
We were but stones,... your light made us stars

^ Is that possible if he is off life support? Maybe he's sub-consciously hanging on so people can say goodbye.
it is, as long as your heart keeps beating. likely it will stop when his body gets poisoned from his other organs shutting down. people can live for days after being taken off life support, depending on how strong their heart is.

    Way too young.
I grew up listening to Tom Petty, I have so many memories tied to his music. That, we will always have.

Damn this sucks.  Over the past couple of years I have really jumped into his vast catalogue of studio and live albums.  He's now one of my favorites and has been number 1 on my bucketlist to see for awhile.  I missed him on this past tour because I had tickets for another show that was local on the same night.  I always figured I had more time to see him.

    I was wrong.

The great thing about music though is that it lives on forever.  His music will live on forever.

I saw Tom and the Heartbreakers on the same stage with Pearl Jam in Milwaukee during the 2006 tour. Also saw TP & the HB perform songs with Jackson Browne and Steve Winwood over the years.

He was a great collaborator, and a great American impressionist... He will be missed.

Tom and Ed seemed to be really close.  I think Danny Clinch recently shared an anecdote about being at Ed's house when he opened a letter from Tom.
