I think this will go beyond Adidas . Nike & Under Armor are involved too. Been going on for decades. This is ONLY the tip of the Ice Berg. I can see this exploding into Football too. We shall see.pjhawks said:
every major coach of every major program better be lawyering up. once those arrested start talking and it possibly gets into the other shoe companies all hell could break loose. Every Adidas school should be shaking in their shoes this morning for sure.markymark550 said:
It's not all about recruiting though. Part of it is coaching accepting bribes to steer kids towards certain agents. I fear that my school (South Carolina) is going to get in trouble because of this. Evans was at South Carolina before OK State and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he was accepting bribes to get PJ Dozier and/or Sindarius Thornwell to sign with one of the agents listed in the indictment. We are certainly listed in the document (I think we are University-2), so all I can hope is that this was a rogue coach and nobody else knew of his actions.Indifference71 said:Jason P said:NCAA indited Oklahoma State, Auburn, Arizona and UCLA for bribes. Seems that Louisville had Adidas pay a recruit $100K to commit.
That's gotta be the death penalty for the Cards program after the hooker fiasco, right?
Good. College recruiting is so fucking dirty. The whole scene is sad and disgusting...teams recruiting kids when they're 12-13 years old.
That said, I think this is just the beginning and we're going to see a lot more charges and names thrown out. Worldwide Wes better go into hiding and get to a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the US.
Lawyering up, is right. Ther gonna make a lot of money too.Post edited by cutz on0 -

Carey Rich said that Evans didn't steer any of our guys toward the agent in question. I guess we'll see.markymark550 said:

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. I'm sure that as a former player Rich knows about the seedy stuff that goes on. This goes beyond the normal pay-to-play recruiting stuff, so I doubt he has a lot of inside details about this. I was reading some analysis of the FBI document on one of our fan message boards and it stated that Evans definitely took bribes while he was at South Carolina. One of the documented meetings had him saying to start the process of paying one of our players and his family in the summer of 2016 so that everything would work out as it should. It was around that time that he left for OK State, so whether or not any money was paid out is unclear. He also said he took the new job because it gave him a better opportunity to make more off the bribes, which tells me he was doing (or at least trying to do) something. It looks like some shady stuff occurred here, but that's all going to be determined by any documents uncovered and if there's a money trail. One good thing that Evans said was that he doesn't include the head coach in these deals, so Coach Martin should be in the clear. We'll probably get some sort of NCAA punishment, but it's much better for us that it looks to be a rogue assistant and not a full program investigation. But, right now it's all wait and see.tweedyfanjen said:

Not that my school is out of the woods yet, but

Thought this was funny, but UK fans may not want to buy them just yet...0 -
Anybody heard any rumblings about Underwood at Illinois? Former assistant went down and is being charged with things before and after Underwood hired him at OkSt. Seems like a prime candidate for punishment, but haven’t read much about the case as a whole.0

Kentucky has been the most scandal ridden program in college basketball history. i don't think they should be throwing stones at anyone.markymark550 said:Not that my school is out of the woods yet, but

I've seen some speculation about it. Wouldn't be too surprising though. Like you said, he was HC and hired Evans. If Evans was truthful about not including the head coaches in the deals, Underwood might be ok. I see him in the same situation as Frank Martin and fully expect the feds to investigate here.DewieCox said:Anybody heard any rumblings about Underwood at Illinois?
