Just got back from watching my Gamecocks upset Kentucky! While we're still a fairly mediocre team, the defense we've been playing lately has been fantastic.

I fell asleep at halftime (at home, not at the game). Silva is a beast when he's not worried about foul trouble. We really needed that win to hopefully give us momentum to finish the season with a decent record.

Silva has been much better this year managing his fouls. His first 2 years, I think he just had the mindset of "go get the ball." This year, he's been more conscious about knowing when not to overpursue and not committing silly fouls.

UK had either 3 or 4 players foul out and they got really passive on offense the last 8 minutes or so. They had at least 4 possessions taking the shot clock down and then settling for Kevin Knox missing a 3. He was killing us when he was driving to the hoop. I don't know why they went away from that.

Yes, all true. I guess on Saturday we will find out for certain that Zion is going to Clemson. That's still a head scratcher to me.

They recruited Zion longer and harder (that's what she said lol) than we did. Plus, his stepdad has been prominent in the process and he played at Clemson. From what I've heard, his mom just wants him in state, doesn't matter where.

If I take off the garnet glasses and look at it objectively, he should go to Kansas. Bill Self has taken similar players in size, skills, talent, etc and had them as lottery picks the next year. Self's offense would showcase him appropriately with other very high caliber players.

I didn't know that about his step dad. I knew his father played football at NC State, though.  Oh well. It's only for one year but I just don't understand the decision, even with the family connection. Why wouldn't you want to play somewhere with an amazing hoops history?

I expected it to be Clemson, but it's not a surprise that he picked Duke. According to some of the articles written about it, he was really high on Duke at the beginning. I post on a Gamecock message board too and actually predicted Duke. Somewhere along the way Clemson took the lead, but Coach Buyavowel had a really strong final sales pitch. I do find it funny that he said he was going to "shock the world" when he committed. It's shocking for the #2 player to choose Clemson or South Carolina...Duke, not so much.

Oh well, life goes on. We've played much better the last few games. Hope we can keep it up.

he will never coach again and if he is lucky wont go to federal prison for bribery.  how do you a coach a guy in college who you paid 100k to get?  it's gonna be real interesting how many coaches get pulled into this.  i can see a lot of retirements at the end of this year like Izzo and Coach K.
