I don't like ACDC. But I liked Wolfmother. there are obvious similarities. I guess I was hoping they'd evolve more than they did and not go the ACDC route and churn out the same song over and over, which is what it sounded like to me. maybe I expect too much. I mean, when I think of great bands I love, most of their first and second records show an obvious growth.Thirty Bills Unpaid said:

same kinda thing when wolfmother came out. I loved that first record. then the second one came out....and the third.....and it was like....enough already.PJ_Soul said:
I totally agree. I guess this is a one trick pony band. They are good at that, but can they mix it up? Or did they use up all their creativity already?HughFreakingDillon said:
this. I was psyched for their second album. But it's essentially first album 2.0. nearly zero growth, no risks taken that I have figured out yet. it's basically the same record.DewieCox said:Thirty Bills Unpaid said:I have not listened to this band much at all.
They are opening for GnR in Vancouver though so I will see them.
Any advice for getting to know and appreciate them beforehand?
Pick a song, any song and you'll know pretty much what the rest of their songs sound like.
a little disappointed.
Its always going to be heavy guitar with Wolfmother.

Cosmic Egg didn't elevate them in any way. The music was still good and I still listen to that album, but yes... it didn't take them to the next level. And, neither did any subsequent piece of work afterwards.
The constant flux of band members has been troubling as well.
I still really like them.

I'm enjoying the 2nd album but not as much as the 1st. It should grow on me over time.Sometimes you find yourself

I kind of disagree about Cosmic Egg....I thought that added to the vibe. The last album though didn't impress me...I agree about the constant lineup changes. At one point I think Wolfmother had some shows booked that they ended up changing to "Andrew Stockdale" since the entire band changed.Thirty Bills Unpaid said:

Saw them the other night and loved the show. Awesome power and sound coming from two members. Like previous posts, it is shocking they only played about 55 minutes to one hour as a headliner and with two albums out. 13 songs played, but I think they choose short and sweet rather then add a few of their mediocre songs into the setlist.

it has totally dropped off my radar. listened to the first one like crazy, along with the b sides. not this one.Indifference71 said:jeff2040 said:I'm enjoying the 2nd album but not as much as the 1st. It should grow on me over time.

Same here. I listened to it once and I felt like it was just too much like the first album all over again, so never came back to it. Maybe I'll give it another listen and see if I feel any differently the second time around.HughFreakingDillon said:

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
