As much as I dig the new album, I've really opened up to their entire catalog in the last few weeks. I know I'm in the minority, but Era Vulgaris and Lullabies are my favorite besides the 2 most recent albums.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I have to give Songs for the Deaf another shot. Never been a big fan. Self titled is heavier than I like these days. Rated R is superb, but I'm not a fan of multiple lead singers sharing vocals for an album, even though Lanegan is awesome. I flip flop between Era and Lullabies. Really like the sound of both. Like Clockwork is spectacular and Villains is a nice new turn.

    RB just after 8.  QOTSA 945 @pjpitt89

I thought we'd get a longer show from QOTSA...
  • Last night was great.  Homme has awesome stage presence.  But the band only played an hour and a half...  I have to remember that every band isn't PJ.

Very tight.  Sound was good.  Crowd was great.  I was just right of the soundboard which was cool cause you could hear when Homme wanted a change from the sound guy, you'd see him speak in a different mic behind him then hear him from the booth.  It tripped me out at first because I thought I was hearing shit.

I enjoyed Song of the Dead as a closer.  That was fun.

Un-reborn again was great live.  That one is really growing on me.

Good show.  I'll see these guys again at MSG.  I'll be in GA again.  See y'all there.

For people that have seen them multiple times on past tours, are they generally a "fairly same set" kind of band?  Looks like they played heavily from Villains, Clockwork, and Deaf last night.  Wonder if they'll extend themselves a bit as the tour goes, or switch things up a bit.  But I'd be totally happy with that set last night.

I've seen them 14 times, including multiple times on the last few tours. They usually have a core set that they play every night and that they'll flip around the order of, while mixing in a few audibles here and there. I was really happy to see "I Appear Missing" and "First It Giveth" on the set list last night (Oh wow! Just noticed "Leg of Lamb" too). Only got to see "I Appear Missing" once in five sets on the ...Like Clockwork tour, so I'd be really happy to see that at least once this tour. Seeing them twice in the span of a few days next month. Can't wait.

P.S. Still have one extra GA for Red Rocks if anybody's interested, as well as an extra pair for Cal Jam.

Looking forward to tonight's show. Although I wish it was indoors.

Excellent! I hear where you are coming from though. I'm having the same problem with the new LCD Soundsystem album. It's taking time to get into.
