  • I was thinking yesterday.........can you imagine how this will all be looked back on in 20 or 50 years? will it be downplayed, or will it be looked at as we look at it now.......a total clusterfuck?

I'm sure by that time it will be a full fledged gameshow on tv and the prize is potus.  I asked earlier about a statue of Donald Trump after his presidency and if there will be one.  Would it cause controversy in 50yrs from now?

I think it depends on what actual policy is enacted, which to date isn't much.  But of course, to get things done the nonsense has to be cleared.
I'm inclined to think a circus will be remembered, but not every act of the circus.

Great question? I thought the same thing say 16 to 8 years ago and I'm shocked at what I see and hear today.

Former Presidents H.W. and W. Bush denounce racism in wake of Charlottesville

"America must always reject racial bigotry, anti-Semitism, and hatred in all forms. As we pray for Charlottesville, we are reminded of the fundamental truths recorded by that city's most prominent citizen in the Declaration of Independence: we are all created equal and endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights," they said in a joint written statement on Wednesday. "We know these truths to be everlasting because we have seen the decency and greatness of our country."

KKK Grand Dragon Says He’s ‘Glad That Girl Died’ During Charlottesville Rally
“I think there will be more violence like this in the future to come.”
    By Hayley Miller
A leader of a North Carolina-based Ku Klux Klan group says he’s happy a woman died during violent clashes at white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday.

Justin Moore, the grand dragon for the Loyal White Knights of the KKK in Pelham, said he’s “sorta glad” that 20-year-old James Alex Fields Jr. rammed his car into a crowd of counterprotesters, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer.

“I’m sorta glad that them people got hit and I’m glad that girl died,” Moore told CBS affiliate WBTV on Tuesday.

and I'm glad he said this in public.

That's sick.  However nowhere in that article did it say he was a Trump supporter though.  It was heavily implied and anyone reading that article would automatically assume he was.  I don't like articles like that.

I'm going to say this, not to promote or suggest it, but because I find it profound. How has he made it this long without anyone taking a shot at him? The only substantial reasoning I can think of is that the usual assailants in these situations fall to the far right side of the spectrum and in this case those are his people.

It was surprising when Obama made it through unscathed based on all the hate filled sentiment and lies about him being spread, but as a decent person it made sense he didn't have any issues. It helped that the alt right were still lurking in shadows too scared to attempt anything.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Just resign already trump. Republicans and democrats alike would welcome the resignation at this point. Nothing is going to get done with the most unpopular president ever in the white house. Just quit....save yourself the embarrassment of an impeachment down the road.

Every president makes a library whether it be National or not now so he will most likely have that.

Any thoughts on the futility in this? Why its merely for publicity?

    http://thehill.com/homenews/house/346649-dem-introduces-measure-calling-for-trump-to-fire-staff-who-have-backed-white

More than 30 Democratic House members are moving to pressure the Trump administration to fire employees whom they deem supportive of white supremacy.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) introduced a resolution Tuesday condemning the breakout of violence in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend during demonstrations by white nationalists, as well as a series of equivocal statements made by President Trump in the immediate aftermath of the violent protest.

Thanks for that.  Do you know off the top of your head if a President can just say "I want a statue of me placed in such and such a place" or is it a bunch of legal/political red tape etc.?
