Not sure if this has been posted. A good article on CC's life by Jeff Weiss: https://noisey.vice.com/en_us/article/there-was-no-one-else-on-earth-like-chris-cornell

When I mentioned Chris's passing to my co-workers yesterday, nobody seemed to have given a shit, and they KNEW who is was and who he sang for. Then a lunch,I say that Little Wayne died in a car accident. It was at that very minute everyone busted out their phones to see if what I said was true. No talent ass bags get all the attention, while artistic geniuses are overlooked entirely with maybe a short mention on the nightly news.

FUCK!!! Got Badmotorfinger cranked up now... Such a badass album.....
    Unreal.

When I first got it, I cranked up Outshined and a few others- really digging it. Late one night, my buddy and I drove up to a hill with a view to have a few. We were listening to tunes and Searching came on. It was unreal: the slow, strange intro followed by the great drums and cool vibe was f**king awesome. I felt cool just listening to it.

Funny thing was... I asked Curt (we were in his car), "Who is this?" He said, "I don't know. This is your music."

After going home, I rewound the tape and cranked the tune up again with my sports Walkman. I had found a song that was awesome and it never stopped being awesome.

Can't help but listen to my favorites but not going to lie the mix of emotions that flow is surreal...

For me the hardest part in all this is the place I turn when im lost is no longer a place I can turn, the music. I cant listen to anything Chris without crying and PJ is only slightly better.

As we all get older and our parents get sick or pass (I got home from Fenway last year and found our my dad had stage 4 lung cancer and a ton of blood clots) it gets harder to put my head down and power thru. lotsalemon, please reach out if you ever want to talk. Your dads situation sounds very familiar, and ill also say almost a year later, my dad is improving after we were prepared for the worst, so keep your chin up!

Im a huge Beatles fan and my dad always turns them off and I asked him why once and he said, it makes him sad. It reminds him of a time that no longer exists.

That's how all this music feels to me now. I play guitar and usually do it to unwind on the weekends...I cant even imagine playing it now...

    I pray it passes.
Wait a few days and then pick up the guitar. Don't think just detach and let your fingers and heart take over @RS65573
Well said. I did this yesterday here and there as my acoustic was already in my office. I found a meditative peace just playing whatever came into my mind.

I don't have any good stories like some of you do, but this is really the first celebrity death that has gotten to me. My girlfriend told me the news when my first alarm went off yesterday and I woke up instantly, shocked. I'm so happy I was able to see him play the few times I did. Especially the two temple of the dog shows in Upper Darby back in November. Two of the best shows I've ever seen...

This will be a tough one to get over.  Just tied to my youth so much as all 4 major Seattle bands are.

Coincided with a special day for my family and a nice beach trip.  So we did our best to focus on the celebration and the vacation.

Sat out on a near empty beach and watched the waves tonight and reflected on Chris.  Im grateful that i cant relate or understand any of this.  It just sucks. He deserved a better ending.

So true. That's the part that I can't wrap my mind around. To come back from so much, and go like the words in The Day I Tried to Live" I woke the same, as any other day except a voice was in my head, it said seize the day, ........ Ativan induced....voices...

Love the photo. I have a blog with bird photos and posted about how sad I was about this and someone replied: "One of the first songs I thought of this morning was Like Suicide, which he once said he wrote after finding a wounded female Robin in his yard." Sigh. What a loss :(

Anyone have a report from Rock on the Range? They were supposed to do a tribute to Cornell tonight.

The more we know, the less it makes sense. Just horrible. Time will heal the wounds ... but it will all take time.

Still struggling with this. Thank-you all for writing out your words. It's helping to get glimpses of how others are processing it. There's a tribute night at a bar in town here tonight which I'll be heading to later although I really don't know I can handle it yet. Oh God, I know there's no point in 'wishing' but I just wish, something, anything, he'd called someone, someone had knocked on that door a little earlier......

Was listening to songbook yesterday morning after work, I l cried and then smiled and cried and smiled. He was the best at what he did. No one can even come close to his solo concerts. When you hear and see his entire catalog at it's most rawness, it's amazing. I remember the last time I saw him solo. I was going holy shit this is fucking amazing during every fucking. Cornell literally had me with every fucking song and every fucking story he told. The one that sticks out to me from the last time I saw him solo is the duet him and his daughter did. It was such a fucking cool moment.

I was awaken by the bad news of one of my favorite singers, lyricist, artist, and one I always thought was handsome, had passed away. I just couldn't believe it until I went to IG and my feed was all about the bad news and of course the sad reality set in.

My deepest condolences goes to the Cornell family, Kim, Ben, Matt of SG and all those who have worked with or cross paths and shared some kind of experience with Chris Cornell.

I'm still in disbelief. My condolences to all sg and pj family and fans. I'm grateful for all the times I got to see Chris, including the entire west coast TOTD tour. All I can do is listen to the music. Spinning Higher Truth on vinyl now. :bawling: I had to take TOTD off the turn table....it's too eerie for me to deal with...heartwrenching :bawling:
