Has a thread ever lasted so long that it actually carried over to the next tour, all the while being on the front page ? I'm sure there's been others but it does seem unusual. And I'm sure it will happen here.
  • just supporting the thread...cheers to hali! fyi: the setlist posted earlier in the thread was mine from the show. it's now framed with my ticket stub!

Welcome!!! Halifax was my first show too and i'm hooked. I've loved them since the very early days, 91-92, but HFX was the only opportunity i've had to see them play live. It was a long wait, but well worth it.

  • Uh-oh. I hope this isn't a bad omen. The Keith's pitch man, that angry annoying Scottish guy, is busted on possession of kiddie porn !!! But wait, that means they'll be looking for a new pitch-man. Now who could that be ?! ......Oh ya, "Fuck Heineken, gimme a Keith's !" LOL.

Oh man, Ed pitching Keith's would be hilarious.

I seriously cannot wait until the tour dates are announced and we see Halifax listed! It would most certainly make my year again... sigh... I wait anxiously and hope this thread keeps going!

BTW, does anyone know a good way to get our request for a tour date better acknowledged by the band?

SWEEEEEET!!! We won't have to listen to that annoying fuck again!!! I always turned the channel or muted my tv when those commercials would come on.

I was wondering the same thing when this thread started. I don't really know. I'm not sure if Kat, Sea or anyone else associated with the band actually see threads like this, or if it would matter if they did. And its gettin' late - if rumours are correct about a tour starting in May/June, then they'd have to announce dates soon.

dammit man!! it's one thing to see pj live (pick a show), however, when your first show is one such as halifax 2005, then you have been not only hooked, you have also been shooked all night long. have mercy on your soul. :D
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
  • I was hooked after my first show in Montreal '00, but this show was so much better on a number of levels...setlist, energy, emotion, and on and on. Absolutely amazing experience that I feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of.
Lying sideways atop crumpled sheets and no covers he decides to dream. Dream up a new self. For himself.

can i get an AAAAAAAMENT! :)

no, really, can i get an Ament? or a McCready? or a Gossard? or a Cameron? a Vedder perhaps?

i can't stress enough how incredible it is to be able to put on the boot from the 05 show and relive each and every incredible moment.

i hope it will be equally as incredible to be able to put on the boot from the 06 show and relive each and ever moment.

i also hope that this time the two or three friends of mine who like PJ will actually be able to go and won't have to live vicariously through my boot!

Hell, I've had to live vicariously through the boot too ! I never saw the Hfx. concert. All the more reason for PJ to make it to Hfx. again if its possible. I think there are legions of people who didn't make it to the first Hfx. show who will want to see PJ, should they return. I find myself being more curious about the tour than the album, which we all know will come in time. The tour, and where they'll go, is another matter. I've been reading some of the other threads and its surprising how many other cities (some of them quite large) who haven't seen PJ in 5-10 years. Course, most of those people don't have to drive 12 hours to get to a show when their town gets overlooked.
  • Speaking of the tour, has anyone noticed a certain time discrepancy between the rumours of a May tour start, and the actual time left to pull that off. In the '05 tour, they gave a solid 3 months notice about concert locations and ticket sales etc. Following the same logic, that would mean at least a June tour start, and that's if they announced it today - which they obviously aren't doing. And since this is supposed to be a much larger tour, you'd think even more notice would be in the offing. Anyone have any thoughts on this ?
  • Not sure if its been posted before but here's a great pic of Mike in Halifax. He looks a little shocked !

    ok, here's a bump with a story.

i participated in the New Brunswick Association for Community Living's Snow Challenge today at Crabbe Mountain. It was colder than fuck but a lot of fun. What my team lacked in skill we made up for in spirit, in fact "Team Zissou" with our matching red hats were the talk of the hill and we won a special spirit award because we were that ridiculous.

    enough shameless plugging...

there were a couple of times today, when out doing relays and whatnot that i could faintly hear PJ being played by the radio station covering the event. when i was leaving the lodge all tired, cold and windburnt i noticed that ALIVE was playing and i thought to myself that it was the most fitting song for that exact moment in time. i had survived the event without breaking anything!

isn't it funny that while Hallmark has a card for just about every occasion, Pearl Jam has a song for just about every situation.

that's my story. don't know if it was worthy for a bump, but i'm bumping this up just the same.
    i. am. mine.
  • I could probably post this in several areas, but I'll post it here. WTF is with radio in Canada, and why do they play so little PJ ? I remember Q107 in T.O. played "In Hiding" a few years back, and the DJ said: "Is this an awesome band or what ?". Ya, guy, PJ is so awesome that you never want to play them, you stupid bastard !!

Man I hate radio. And Q104 in Halifax is probably the worst. Lets be honest, people listen to it by default. If there was a decent R&R station in that town Q104 would be outta business before Lukin finished playing. I wasn't in Halifax when PJ came to town, but I wonder how much they(Q104) tried to promote or hitch their wagon to PJ's Halifax gig ? If they had any integrity, the answer would be not at all. They've probably played PJ a handful of times in their entire history - so, you know, why start now with the support ? Lame sons-o-bitches.

PJ survives because they kick ass, because they're genuine and because people get behind them. Its pretty simple. As for you, Q104, go back to doing your thing - which is spinning Bryan Adams, Styx, and The Cars.

once again i say pleas play the maratimes in your next tour fredericton, saint john mnocton halifax. it doesn't matter just do it although i herd u2 was doing the outdoor concert in moncton so it would be sweet if you can get on that bill even though you can't play g.a. shows after rockslide which is more then understandable, but please come back to new brunswick or nova scotia please, please please.

    thank you

all the jam fans out here

Alright, I'm bored. Any ideas on the likelihood of a Halifax gig ? I'm thinking 30-40% chance of it happening. (I have no practical basis for that percentage, its just something that I pulled out of my ass). Now, I know thats not good, but funnier things have happened. I thought we might find out today, but no luck. The new site says major announcements coming on March 7th - so, could this be the tour announcement we've been waiting for ?, and will it be a trip to my old hometown, or a trip to the rather sterile concert environment of the Air Canada Centre ? Here's hopin'....
