i'm looking around at the job situation in Halifax because i can't seem to find anything here...maybe i'll be living there by the time the band comes again and i won't have to crash on my brother's couch!
I know this is off-topic, but where did you see the plans for the stadium ? Are they online anywhere ?
I haven't been able to find them online but I did see plans and conceptual drawings on both the news and in the daily news. Lately the plans have been under debate, many people believe that the staduim is too big for Halifax. If the staduim does get built it will increase the chances of any band coming to the maritimes.
would anyone like to see wintersleep open for PJ this time around in halifax? i know they opened in st. john's, but it would be nice to see them open in hali...any wintersleep fans around?
I'm going to see Wintersleep tonight! Can't wait, I'd love to see them open for Pearl Jam in Hali since I wasn't able to make the shows in NFLD last time.

enjoy wintersleep on the island! have you seen them before?, or will this be your first show? they put on an amazing show and the lead singer has a "young eddie vedder-esque" quality...great drummer...great musicians really..."orca" is their best i think, it's phenomenal live!
i've seen them somewhere around 20 or 30 times in small venues, so i would love to see how they sound in an arena. i would think the sound would translate well. i assume they sounded good in nfld, surferjenn?
they're playin in charlottetown tonight but i couldnt make it, damn work
i guess you need to quit your job, eh?
hey mr clayton!!
i think some momentum from the board may bring a visit to the maritiemes this year . i suppose that's a grasp, but who knows?
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
I agree with this thread wholeheartedly! That show in Hali was one the best and most intense concerts that I have ever been to. Personally, I don't care where it is as long as they come back to the Maritimes. Since I live in Moncton, I wouldn't mind seeing them here but what would be even better would be to have shows scheduled in Saint John, Moncton and Halifax and to be able to see them all. I must admit though that Halifax crowds are a force to reckoned with. So consider this my vote. Bring it on!
What are you doing now? if you don't mind.. I just don't know what the stats are on bcomm grads finding work. I'm not too worried about it though.
strange turn of events for me gallant...i'm doing my own work selling my paintings and custom artwork. i did commerce and arts, with majors in marketing and english...unfortunately i couldn't afford ($) to finish my english degree so i decided to graduate with my marketing degree. i only need 2 credits to complete my english degree, so i hope to pick up those credits someday in the near future when i have the cash and time to spare.
there's not a lot of work here on the east coast for new grads, depending on your major, but there is certainly quite a bit of work in ontario and on the west coast. many of my friends have had great success with their commerce degrees by making the move west. i did some public relations and media relations work in BC a few years ago, and came back home to work here...kind of got caught up in my painting, so i haven't looked for work in my field for a while. i have done, and continue to so some freelance work writing press releases and magazine articles since i made the move home.
i would say, from my experience and the situations with my friends it is best to get entry level jobs in the west and bring back a few years experience if you want to work on the east coast. not really a lot of opportunities for new grads here, but some people get lucky with it. it is definitely much easier once you've had a couple of years experience, depending on your major, to find work here if you're looking to stay on the east coast.

it would be amazing man. imo for the new stadium to be built, it gotta be next to the halifax harbour ... best place would be where shannon park is or better yet .. up in burnside. won't be made in downton halifax for sure ... it'll be made in dartmouth baby!
btw, a visit to kansas city would also be ok.. hehehe

Come back! My husband And I had the time of our lives! We were glad we could share such a Wonderfull moment in time...
They could always come to New Brunswick (we always get forgoten) The Rolling Stones and co. sold 80,000 tickets for Moncton out door concert Just weeks prior to the PJ Halifax Gig. We would welcome them with open arms.

YAY MTA!!!
sorry...just a little hometown pride shining through.
DAUGHTER-Live, i'm totally behind you on the play in NB train of thought. I was going to try to promote this idea, but realistically, on a widespread tour, odds are pretty slim that they'd play here. we had a better chance on their mini-canadian tour.

yeah, it won't take you long to tour the SMU campus, so i'm guessing you'll spend more time on the latter SMU is only a big block in the south end of the city really. only about 10,000 or so students (i'm guessing, as there was about 9,000 when i went there...) DAL is definitely the bigger of the two schools and its' campus is far larger.
personally, i like a smaller school and dal is too busy. smu is close to point pleasant park and it's a little farther away from the downtown area so there's less hustle and bustle...that is if you condsider any "busy-ness" in a smaller city like halifax hustle and bustle
anyway, have fun! if you check out "the gorsebrook" (smu campus bar), let me know if my jersey is still retired behind the bar!
i must say, of all the boots that i've listened to throughout the tour, and its around 10-15, Halifax was one of the better shows they played. I'm putting together a best of the tour and quite a few songs are from the Halifax show. just an awesome show, must have been crazy if you were there.

It was crazy!!!!! It was 4 months ago and i STILL can't believe it happened. I am still driving my friends nuts talking about it. I've never been a part of something quite so spectacular.
It has to happen again!!! (or i need to win the lottery so i can follow the band around on this next tour)
you're not alone lanners. my friends don't mind talking about it, as most of them were there too. we are all still talking about it. i get chills listening to the boot, and they all say the same thing. the crowd singing on better man, getting to hear songs that were anthems for us in high school and university, hearing PJ cover neil young...still feels like a dream. i've been to a lot of concerts, but this one was an "experience".
