The 7" version looks to be different from the original. For the original, the 7" was a mini-version of the 12" with the exposed "milk crate" sides. You can see it in the second photo. The new version looks pretty cool. I absolutely love mine. Got 2 of each. One 7" holds x-mas singles, the other holds all other PJ singles. One 12" holds original pressings, the other represses. One small nit to be aware of is the the PJ logo is technically on the side of the crate, so if you're using a Kallax shelving system for your LPs, you can't see it. Doh!

My Ex bought me the 7" when it was first offered so I was curious about the 12" but not for that cost.

Damn this would be nice to have for the 7"ers but still too steep for my blood. Can't imagine trying to explain that one.

These really are nice and I'm tempted, but to be honest, I prefer to see the spine of my LP's and pull out whatever I want to play at that moment. I guess they'd be nice to have for more of a storage use, but I have the Kallax shelf from IKEA, and as someone pointed out in another thread, due to the dimensions of the spaces in the shelving unit, these only fit in one way, and it's with the PJ logo facing the sides so it would not be visible. :/

Yah I have a 4x4 Ikea Cube shelf and it's awesome for holding 12" records. Putting in crates would make it that much hard to pull the record out to play it. I guess the 12" box's could be handy for people with smaller collections that don't need the larger IKEA shelves. I'm think I've got my collection spread out in 9 of the 16 cubes I have available. Well 10 of 16 if you include the cube that has my cardboard box specifically designed to hold my 7" records. Come to think of it the PJ 7" box might be kind of cool for that but it's a bit more than I'd like to pay.

I forget where I was going with that, but the Ikea cube shelve's are awesome and well prices for larger vinyl collections :)

It's really sturdy. My 4x4 cube shelf is pretty heavy. I didn't do the wallmount either (the safety thing you're supposed to do Ikea stuff so it doesn't fallforward if improperly load/balanced). I put a little carboard under the front section, which gave it a small lean against the wall. It's rock solid like that :)

I have the 2x4 Kallax unit, and built it horizontally so it's 2 cubes high by 4 long. (No need to bolt it to the wall sitting like that.) I also put in the door inserts on the bottom ends, and the drawer inserts on the bottom inside cubes. I left the top cubes open, and that's where all of my records are, with my turntable and speakers on top. I don't have a HUGE vinyl collection, so I've only filled in two cubes so far...leaves some room to keep growing! :)
