Fenway 1 Start Time

  • For anyone who has been at a show at Fenway is it usually a cluster fuck when gates open or just the last min rush closer to show time? I was at Wrigley and was maybe 10 min wait when gates opened.

Have never been to Fenway. Plan to get in as soon as I can and check out the ballpark!

I'm glad 10C let us know 7:30 is the scheduled start and I hope they go on right as scheduled.

Problem is when have they done that besides festivals?

    are vapes allowed in?

Anyone know if this is the case or not?

My GF uses her vape pen and I'd hate for her to get it confiscated as it's not cheap. If they're banned I'm going to have her get a couple of small cheapo disposables to smuggle in just in case.

    Thanks!

Smoking is not allowed in Fenway. Don't shoot the messenger! Or just don't get caught!

Looking at other stuff online, it appears fenway has a no vape policy as well, so she's going to have to leave it at the room and try to sneak in a disposable or something.

  • Hopefully no issues bringing in poster tubes or merch purchased outside before the show.

I've heard at times that it's been pretty smooth. But I also heard the most recent Dead & Co shows and McCartney were pretty bad. Somebody on facebook said to give yourself a good 45 minutes to get in, and maybe even more if you're on the field. Heading in around 6:00 is probably safe.

There obviously isn't a need for any lining up since there is no GA, and I assume there are more than one entrance. Hopefully it's smooth sailing. At the very least, we'll know what to expect come Sunday :)
  • Thanks for the info. Yes for those going on Sunday we can get the good and the bad from those going on Friday night. With no GA it should help with lines plus I am sure a lot of people will be drinking at the bars by the ball park as long as they can before they head in!

Somebody put this on reddit earlier on. Some good info

Just a quick heads up for some folks who may not be in tune with what's going on at Fenway this weekend.... trying to avoid having some disappointed folks.
DOORS @ 5PM You will be able to enter the park starting at 5pm. Fenway is a beautiful, historic park. If you've not been, I suggest going in early and walking around a bit.
PEARL JAM STARTS @ 7:30PM There is NO OPENING ACT. Tickets say 6:30. 10 Club email says they're starting at 7:30. I've seen folks expecting PJ to start at 9pm. Those people WILL miss a lot of the show.
Pearl Jam will be playing around a 3 hour long show with 30-35 songs. There will (generally) be two short set breaks. Fenway park has a suggested curfew of 10:30pm and a hard curfew of 11:00pm. You do the math.
SECURITY AND PARK ENTRY: Fenway has strict security since the marathon bombings. Be prepared for pat-downs, pocket-emptying, bag searches, and metal detectors. These precautions will slow down entry. Be prepared for ~30 minute security lines to enter the park. If you're grabbing that last beer at 7:00 before heading to the park, you're likely going to miss the start of the show waiting in lines. Be prepared.
Once inside the park, concourses are narrow (this is the oldest ballpark in America), so be prepared for slow progress to your seats. I'd budget for around 30 minutes to get to some seats. More if you're getting beer, going to the bathroom, etc. You'd be wise to get in line to enter the park between 6pm and 6:30.
SEATING: Be aware that many seats at Fenway are SMALL and uncomfortable. I know most of you likely won't be sitting much, but be aware of this.. particularly if you're a larger person. Again, this is a VERY old ballpark that was designed and built when people were much smaller.
When traveling to the park, be prepared for a lot of congestion in traffic. Account for this when planning. Parking close will be difficult and very expensive. Uber/Lyft will likely have significant surge pricing after the event.
Just trying to make sure nobody misses any of the show... if there are any questions about this tour, the band, or the venue I'll be happy to try to help answer.

Me too.... I want the full 3+ hour experience. No sense in delaying the start because folks are slackers and want to arrive as late as possible. I'm planning on being in line for entry by 6pm at the latest. Fenway is a beautiful ballpark. There are worse things than spending a little time in your seats watching folks fiie in and taking in the sights of the oldest ballpark in the nation.
And if you have seats on the field, you have another line to stand in when you get inside the park.

They've told us the start time. They've warned us to budget extra time for picking up tickets and getting inside to our seats. Anyone who strolls in late has no one to blame but themselves.

For people who've never been to Fenway, are there any areas worth wandering around inside the stadium before the show starts?

There's some cool memorabilia on the first base side. Just walk towards the bleachers and you'll go through like a tunnel - that's my favorite area.

Outside the park is great. Landsdowne St and Yawkey Way. Great atmosphere.

  • Are there very many merch stands inside the Park? I know there are a bunch of spots outside but if I need to stand in a line on Sunday would prefer to do it inside the ballpark.

There are several scattered around, I don't know how many though. There's a store under the bleachers, and another one inside gate D.

I'm sure there will be a few others. I may try to get in early Sunday in hopes of a Thompson poster. A long shot I know, but about the only chance I'll have besides being here for the drop.
