Awesome EH! Maybe I'll get immortality in Chicago :rock_on:

    Any extended jams?

I play all of them with bootlegs, so yes!

favorite is immortality, I play the intro from Imagine in Cornice before starting the bootleg.

Also I never liked learning from books, but you might more than I did :)

Thanks for your input. I'm looking at very short spurts of practice time and it appears that may be a good companion.

learning the scales is really important, I went way to long not knowing them. I would try learning songs by ear too, because that's how I got really good after taking lessons for a few years.

Thanks eh! I've been trying to work on my transitions. Still can't get d to c clean. Lol god grief. But I have 2 little ones that give me zero time and when I do get a moment they climb up my leg and want to help me play lol. I will also try to get scales in!

Playing be ear. I can usually only figure out the rhythm not the notes.

I play them with bootleg tracks I have downloaded on my PS3. I improvise the solos to work on that technique, makes it feel like I'm playing a show :)

Been reading this thread a bit, I'm also a newer guitar player, it's only been just under a year. But I've gotten decent, can play a ton of songs. Sounds like you're getting good! Once you get your open chord changes down you're in. And it's an amazing feeling. I'm on the cusp of a breakthrough into barre chords - I can find them and even move them up and down the neck, but they're just still a little sloppy. Close!
Also there's a youtube series that got me started by a guy named Nate Savage I believe, super helpful! I'd recommend it because it's useful and free!

Well I pretty much only know black. Can't get enough of that song. I spend a lot of time day dreaming about practicing! Lol.

It's strictly a hobby for me and I love it! My time will come

I wish I had more time to practice! But, I am able to practice/play about 45 minutes each day & I always look forward to it. The upcoming 3 day weekend will be nice!

I'm really involved in the recording & mixing process for 2 albums, so that eats away at a lot of my free time. It'll be nice when those are done so I can really start developing all of the songs ideas that I've recorded or that have been bouncing around in my head.

also my advice is when you start learning full songs later, play them to the songs. I think for awhile when I played songs I would think of only the guitar parts in my head, but now that I'm playing with the music I have the complete song going through my head. With the whole song in my head, I can now really feel the song, soloing is so much better, and I'm really feeding off the other parts.

That's awesome EH! Also way too advanced for me but I often come back here and read these threads trying to see the whole picture. I feel now like maybe I haven't learned the e minor scale like I thought. I thought I found a reliable video on utube-but then made the mistake of watching another one and oh man and I confused haha. Like wth. They were 2 completely different videos. I like the first 1 better the original 1 I watched.

He kept it very simple and in English hahaha

I'm not going to bother looking for the other one. Is the above correct? Lmao I'm not going to practice until it's confirmed THANKS!

    Lmao. 2fr. Not helpful.

The second video I watched showed the scale as 3 notes on 2 strings oppose to the video above is 3 notes on 3 strings. :dizzy:

I should take the time to learn the scales properly. I just don't have the time & I am satisfied with my abilities!

Busted my first string  - ordered a "daily burn" guitar practice book as well as a journal type practice log. Looking forward to its arrival. I've been using my finger strengthener lol its improving my pinky!

Next gotta get restrung and I need a metronome/tuner in one - guess I'll just have to go see my bud at guitar world. Darn.
