    Fucked Up! Just saw them recently. The rest I also grew up with! Brings back so many memories. My friend Bob was really into Lagwagon, Screeching Weasel and Bad Religion. So I know so many of their songs, just bceause I was in the car with him.

    I was more of a Wipers, Dead Moon, Ramones and Talking Heads.

    I grew up listening to punk from the late 70's-80's. I obviously like the Germs. Also the Adolescents, Cheifs(they spell it wrong), the Clash, Shattered Faith, TSOL, the Damned, the Crowd, early Social Distortion, Dead Boys, etc. I wrote an actual letter to Crass and after 6 months I was surprised to get a letter back. Anyone interested in old punk rock should check out the Hostage Records label. They specialize in mostly releasing O.C. classic style punk. They just released a new Shattered Faith album and it's great. Their prices are at a true DIY punk rock level. Just shows you can release a record and sell it for cheap. hostagerecords.com/hostage_records/HOME.html

    I found a great condition copy of that Adolescents LP in a thrift store last year for 50 cents. Great stuff!

    That is a tough one. Most of the "punk" bands I see these days are new punk, which can be argued that it's not "real" punk. It would be easier to remember the good classic punk shows I've seen throughout the decades.

    All great records. The Adolescents record caused my parents to take away my records because I was going around the house singing "I Hate Children". Then they found my Dead Kennedys record and talked with the asshole cop neighbor and he told them to throw them all away. Cool thing is that my dad kept them and I found them when I was helping him move. Also, the singer of the the Adolescents later became a teacher and so did I.

    Love this band. Can't believe how much music they keep putting out, and it's all awesome. Agree with you on Ty as well, check out video of his recent KEXP session, it was....something else.

    Gotta love all the recommendations in this thread. I miss that old spirit of punk that I feel no one is doing any more. Any new punk out there for fans of bands like Off!?

    Some other stuff I dig: metz, wavves, pavement, the spits, lawrence arms, NOFX, superchunk, leatherface, hot water music, jay reatard.

    Too bad Reatard is gone now. He was putting out great music.
    Jay was a violent force. I got to see the Reatards, Tokyo Electron, and Angry Angles at a tiny club in San Francisco. We were right up front and Jay was getting pissed about something. He ended up smashing a glass on the stage and I don't know how I didn't get it in my eye. Then he grabbed my wife's purse and put it around his neck during a song. I'm surprised my wife didn't get up there and kick his ass. It was total chaos and unforgettable. We later drank and smoked cigarettes with the band. Also found a photographer online who actually took a picture of Jay with my wife's purse around his neck. It hangs proudly in the music room of our house.

    Totally love my punk music, The Clash I would rate in my top 5 bands ever, true pioneers that just didn't give a fuck. The Buzzcocks too, saw them here in Auckland about 3 weeks ago, great gig, still going strong! Fugazi are the shit as are Thee Oh Sees as mentioned above. Really like a lot of post-punk bands too like Joy Division, one of my all time faves, they took punk to a different level. Gang of Four, Television and Talking Heads, the list goes on and on. One thing I really love about punk is how it re-influenced (is that even a word?!) rock music again, a genre that was getting a little tiring was totally reenergised by punk and those influences are still felt today in so many good bands, (far too many to mention) including Pearl Jam.
