Other punk PJ fans?

I grew up in the pit. 42 yrs old and I still wanna be in a giant sweaty circle pit. Pearl Jam is my favorite band, but it is so hard just standing in one place.

I cannot believe Crass wrote you back. I saw Steve Ignorant do a panel at Riot Fest for the West Memphis Three with Rollins and Damien Echols. It was pretty freakin sweet.

Some other stuff I dig: metz, wavves, pavement, the spits, lawrence arms, NOFX, superchunk, leatherface, hot water music, jay reatard.

I saw the Ty performance on KEXP and also saw him on tour a few months later. SUCH A WEIRD VIBE, but so fun. That baby mask freaks me out though. The Spits are also one of my faves, and actually I'm friends with a few of the dudes in the band. Sean took me on my first tour of Seattle in the Spits tour van. Also, METZ! YES! Totally underrated!

Jay was a violent force. I got to see the Reatards, Tokyo Electron, and Angry Angles at a tiny club in San Francisco. We were right up front and Jay was getting pissed about something. He ended up smashing a glass on the stage and I don't know how I didn't get it in my eye. Then he grabbed my wife's purse and put it around his neck during a song. I'm surprised my wife didn't get up there and kick his ass. It was total chaos and unforgettable. We later drank and smoked cigarettes with the band. Also found a photographer online who actually took a picture of Jay with my wife's purse around his neck. It hangs proudly in the music room of our house.

That story about Jay is pretty great! I saw him with the Reatards a few times and a few times solo. Blood Visions will always be one of the best albums in the history of music as far as I'm concerned. Watch Me Fall is good too.

I'll have to think of more suggestions...so many good bands out there right now....the kids are still making great shit, and a lot of it is directly influenced by PJ and other bands that started in the 90's. Every time I go to a show and tell stories of being sat on by Donita Sparks of L7 in 1995 or being in the pit for a Butthole Surfers show, I get these wide-eyed open-mouthed looks and then "tell us everything!!!!" I feel old but more like a wise teacher and less like a grandma.
