I am but I think you knew that! lol...glad I booked ahead. prices are way up now but still available. Seems like they are tailgate friendly? Which is kind of weird. Is the parking lot really right there?SVRDhand13 said:Anybody else staying at holiday inn Philadelphia stadium?

Oh yeah, the parking lot at the Wells Fargo center for a concert looks like game day at a football game. There will be grills and tents and all kinds of shenanigans. It's one huge complex that also includes the baseball field and football stadiums. It was literally built with tailgating in mind.Sprunkn7 said:

Thanks...we def plan on tailgating. I was curious about the proximity to the Holiday inn lot to the venue...I read in the hotel reviews the hotel itself is fine with tailgating!ckravitz said:

Still ISO night 2 GA. Have night 1 for trade.0

Rittenhouse is more of the "ritzier" part of the city, located in Center City, so the food and drinks will be plentiful. But I'd say if you're not looking for upscale there's easily some middle of the road-to-divey for every upscale place. Plus, overall, Philly is very affordable compared to NYC, DC.ELI10 said:We're using Airbnb in the Rittenhouse Square area. I've never been to Philly, can some locals clue me in on this area as far as neighborhood, food, drinks etc...
Thanks in advance
But just off the top of my head, there's a bunch of good stuff on Sansom between Broad and 20th - Federal Donuts, Oscar's, Dandelion, Shake Shack, Vic Sushi, Foodery, Luke's Lobster. Monk's, Tequila's, Jose Pistola's.... Oh, and Good Dog is probably my favorite for a bar & food; more swanky places to hang out - Parc, Rouge, a.kitchen+bar, and of course just hanging out in Rittenhouse Square - the actual square - is always a good time. Again, I could go on and on...
Like above, I could drone on and on. I don't know Fish Park? Fishtown? Girard Station is up there - easy to get on/off the EL/subway. So that's your Port Fishington (Port Richmond, Fishtown, Kensington area) - ya got Kung Fu Necktie right there, along with everything on Frankford Ave: Barcade, Frankford Hall, Johnny Brenda's. All this stuff would be close to you on Spring Garden, along with Silk City, The Fire, Ruba Room.indifferentman said:
Thanks. That's about the cheapest place to sleep option so far. I used to live in shittier parts of Chicago so I feel like I had a pretty good awareness for my surroundings and looking out for trouble.
Outside of Center City and Rittenhouse Square are there any other interesting neighborhoods you can recommend?
From what I'm reading Fish Park over by the Girard Station sounds kind of promising too and that's a bit cheaper then Center City listings.
In a way I kind of like the idea of staying someplace outside of Center City if that's where I'll be doing most of my sight seeing during the day. That way I can experience a different part of the city at night after the show too.
Neighborhoods I'm fond of though are south of South Street for the most part.
Sweet thing about Philly is it's totally walkable/doable - for all the interesting areas - pretty much in a weekend.

I looked on yelp and Facebook for more coffee suggestions. Did you know there was a Philadelphia Coffee Society Facebook page in 2014? I should probably see tourist things. Rocky is one and the museum near it is two. I haven't seen Constitution Hall since 4th grade. That's probably near a lot of places to visit. There is no such thing as leftover pizza. There is now pizza and later pizza. - anonymous

You can probably do the museums one day and then Old City the next? I love the Philadelphia Art and def go to the Rodin that one is free!Ms. Haiku said:I looked on yelp and Facebook for more coffee suggestions. The Hall, the Bell and Betsy Ross house all walking distance from each other. And If it's a nice day go down to the Landing. Thats a good place to hang and relax for a while.Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!0 -
I have my tickets, just wondering if there will be an opportunity to upgrade :-) and of course pass on what i have to a clubber.duffmann said:

Rittenhouse is a great neighborhood. Check out Capogiro for some great gelato. Parc is fantastic! Tria is a nice wine bar. Dandelion has a great pub atmosphere. You will like the area.ELI10 said:We're using Airbnb in the Rittenhouse Square area. I've never been to Philly, can some locals clue me in on this area as far as neighborhood, food, drinks etc...

While they're all good spots, if you go to any of these places, don't forget to bring your bank account.YoullseeDragons said:

And don't forget about The Barnes! As much as that place gets heat for screwing over the purpose of the original Barnes you'll never see so many pieces of art from so many infamous artists in one spot.0 -
I have not knowledge of said tenacity, but have the utmost faith in your perseverance, my good man!
