Best Western Hawthorne Terrace. Also wanting to hit up the Cubs home game on the 18th. We're making a vacation of it. Love Chicago, going to be a long wait until August!

  • The Thompson Chicago, Near North Side. Got a great rate on Hotwire, $169 a night which is $100 less then the published rate. It's only 0.4 miles from the red line stop.

When I saw FF last August, I found my place and it was alright - The Getaway Hostel ;)
    http://www.getawayhostel.com/

I got my own private room (shared bathroom) and it came out to little more than $100/night.

Walking distance from the red line (Fullerton Station), just a few stops down the line from Wrigley. Perfect. Also, since it is near DePaul University there are bars and eateries open late at night (My brother stayed downtown and the only thing open past 8pm in the tourist district was TGI Fridays. Blech.) The place to hang near the hostel is the Red Lion Pub. The proprietor is a friendly guy who'll share local info such as the history of the Biograph Theater across the street, where John Dillinger was shot. The half-timbered English themed interior was decorated with artwork by his grandfather, produced during his time as a POW of the Germans. Cool stuff, check it out.

I'm booked there too. I went for the Private room with toilet. How are the mattresses? I read some reviews that the mattresses aren't great and the beds are squeaky. But I'm only staying one night so it's really not a big deal for me.

I'm really glad I booked that too cuz so far no one on AirBnB is answering me.

I slept well there. I'm not a high-demand traveler so I can't speak for everyone else, but it was A-OK by me!
  • I always use priceline and shoot for the loop or river north areas. Always an easy walk to the train and can get a decent deal on a nice room. Riding the train is part of the experience!
  • I stay at The Getaway hostel every time I go to Chicago..you can walk to/from Wrigley no problem which was amazing when the trains were absolutely rammed after '13.

The neighborhood is phenomenal as Ceska mentioned, lots of great pubs, restaurants and the Red line is just around the corner. Super friendly staff, security is really good, and the common areas are clean..beds are decent and clean, not plush huge king size beds but great value for your dollar.

I'll be there from Fri-Tuesday with some friends so I'll see you there!

A little bit spendy but that place is about as good as it gets. I live around the way and the neighborhood is fantastic.

Wrigley Hostel - basically it's like a dorm room, but it's just a stone's throw from Wrigley Field.

Ditto - at $100/night, I'll take it. Flying in from Canada is costly.

My house. Used to live within walking distance of Wrigley but recently moved to the burbs so getting home won't be as convenient. But can't complain about seeing PJ and sleeping in my own bed. Can't wait for August.

I'll Priceline a 4 star hotel in the Loop and pay half of what you all are paying...always works.

Well let us know what hotel you wind up with, what area you picked and how much you bid. Someone has to be the first doing it and letting everyone else know. Ha ha.
