Private room Airbnb walking distance from Wrigley. $130. First time trying Airbnb for me. The booking process was easy. Just hoping the experience is positive. Can't complain about the price and location/convenience. 2013 was nutty after. Don't want to repeat anything like that.

I'll Priceline a 4 star hotel in the Loop and pay half of what you all are paying...always works.

Well let us know what hotel you wind up with, what area you picked and how much you bid. Someone has to be the first doing it and letting everyone else know. Ha ha.

Best Western Hawthorne Terrace. Also wanting to hit up the Cubs home game on the 18th. We're making a vacation of it. Love Chicago, going to be a long wait until August!

A little bit spendy but that place is about as good as it gets. I live around the way and the neighborhood is fantastic.
We are splurging but it's in a fantastic location and is pet friendly. We can stumble back and forth all day, no hassle. No waiting in lines having won Res 1&2. Neighborhood is great!
And after 2013 there was no way in hell I wasn't going to be in walking distance! We love the area, can't wait for August.
    Wrigleyville will be a blast!

I've got a random question for anyone who was stuck in that mess getting home in 2013.
Was the bus working okay? Since I'm striking out on AirBnb (apparently I'm just not AirBnb guest material) it's unlikely I'll be able to stay within walking distance. My plan was the 22 down Clark back to my hostel originally, which I still think is reasonable, but I have zero memory of bus service post-show in 2013.

  • City Suites. Half a mile to Wrigley. I too saw the Walking Dead Herds of 2013. I was less than a mile away back then as well (Majestic) and it was the smartest thing I ever did.

Congress Plaza downtown on the loop. It's affordable and decent. I don't mind being patient and taking the train or a cab and waiting awhile after things die down. Also, those Wrigley hotels will be packed and could be noisey. The hotels downtown are nice and removed from the chaos.

  • My wife and I are staying at the Majestic Hotel, within walking distance of Wrigley Field. We stayed there in 2003 and loved it. A bit more expensive than we'd usually spend, but after the experience of 2013, we made the decision to stay somewhere close.

Clark street bus runs all night. You shouldn't have any issues catching it if the show gets out at the normal time. Not sure what happened in 2013 with the bus....it was all just such a clusterfuck with 40K people trying to get out of there at the same time.

Yea I checked the schedule and was pleasantly surprised it runs every 20 minutes overnight. I figure less people would be taking the bus but I get flashbacks to that line for the el and I get paranoid lol. Figure it'll be nearly the same amount of people leaving again, but hopefully without the train problems.

Yeah and if the concert gets out at the normal time, not everyone is going to be heading home right away like 2013. I'm sure many (myself included) will be hanging in the bars around the area for a few post-show drinks.

Yup. After the FF show last year, the crowd cleared out of the station in the time it took us to get one round at a bar next to Wrigley. If the show ends at a normal time, all will be well.

This is true. My wife and I actually left the show one song early to relieve my sister who was babysitting and no trains came for about 30 mins at least. We got on the first one and it "smelled like teen spirit"
