This thread has inspired me to go check out some local places and in Melbourne itself over the summer holiday period.

A couple of places instantly spring to mind!

    Hopefully can get some bargains!

^^^^That's when I say, "You want 20? I probably have to put 10-15 into it to get it working will you take 10?" :)

The 50 cent CD bin was a gold mine today:
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
Iron & Wine - The Creek Drank The Cradle
    Audioslave - Out of Exile
Beastie Boys - License To Ill (original 1986 pressing!)
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories (I couldn't f'n believe it when I saw it! was scratched, but EAC only got errors in the last 30 seconds of the disc)

Nice! $2.50 well spent. Can't beat CD prices right now, especially when they try to sell you downloads of the same material in inferior quality for 5x the price.

Yeah, I looked up the prices of those 5 CDs on iTunes, it came out to be around 50 dollars! Insanity.

That's the thing about downloads and CD's - why would you pay more for an inferior product? CD's usually sound better and you get a physical back-up. Kudos to all my bin digging bretheren!!! You will find it, if you look long enough!!!!

Great soundtrack, has a lot of really good songs from the era (early 90's), including my favourite Soundgarden song Blind Dogs..

I agree, I prefer vinyl too, just some things aren't available on vinyl or are way too expensive. Some CD's are pretty good...

Yep, depending on the mastering, some CDs are the preferred versions over vinyl.

For example, the Dinosaur Jr CD I posted above was never released on vinyl, it's not even available on iTunes..

I just sold off a bunch of my records last month - got a huge credit (like $300) to use in-store at my local. Been chipping away at it with CDs. I think my interest in vinyl is really waning, maybe disappearing.

Its certainly a buyers market for CDs. You can get some great deals on great sounding music.
