Pearl Jam at the Mothership could very well be the show of the tour...and bootleg. The Hampton Coliseum is an old school arena (1970) that was built for live music (little over 13,000). Great sound and great vibe. As has been mentioned, there have been some absolutely legendary Dead and Phish shows recorded here literally because of how magical the acoustics are in the place. We will be driving up from the Outer Banks of NC so this is also about as close as it gets for me as well. Simply cannot wait for this one!

Is it too early to start talking up pre-game tailgating spots?! Any locals care to share nearby hangouts for us out of towners? :hang_loose: Or maybe the parking lot takes care of itself..?

  • Parking lot takes care of itself..

  • Couldn't decide to put my lotto on the raleigh or Hampton show. The mothership sounds like a great gig to play at, looks awesome too on the outside by the looks of it. Coming from the midwest, whats the best spots before and after the show for drinks?

I just put in for my Hampton tickets! This will be my only east coast tour show and hopefully both Wrigley shows in August.
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.

  • For anyone interested, I posted a brief history of historic dead and phish shows at Hampton in another Hampton thread, including links to two full dead shows from Hampton in 1989.

I'll be in Norfolk for the Tattoo Festival, which I believe Hampton is like 30 minutes away. I'm definitely going to do everything I can to get to this show. I just don't know how to get there, I guess if there's no uber/taxi I'll rent a car for a day…. This is awesome!!!

Ray I may be able to give you a ride from Norfolk to the show but you might be on your own afterwards. I'll keep you posted when I know more. Picking a friend of mine up in Fredericksburg on the way down, so it'll most likely depend on her schedule.

    Here's the PJ seating chart:

seems the number of ADA seats changes with the event. (looking at TM hampton coliseum seating charts)
i wonder how many and in what sections 10C gets to distributes?
*~Pearl Jam will be blasted from speakers until morale improves~*

Yo!!! I appreciate that my friend. Looks like I may be missing this one, "maybe". It's looking like I won't be done till close to 8 that night. So I'm still telling myself, f- it, I'll just rent a car that day and haul ass after I'm done. I may miss the start and a few songs, but how can I be 30 minutes away from where PJ is playing and not give a solid freaking effort to get there!! I'll keep you posted if I'm gonna be able to make it, we'll have a beer.. PJ4LIFE

With all the rock history associated with this arena, you just know it's gonna be one of those special shows.

Mondays are awful for me too and I was on the fence for like a second. But then I realized that it's the first time they've ever played there (only show like that on this tour I believe) and after the shows places like other first-timers Charlottesville and Moline got last tour I realized there was no way I could miss it.

    DO IT!!!
