I like it, but would also prefer linights down. I do think it would make a very intimate, emotional opener. That would be the place in the set list that it would be most powerful for me. Indifference would be an awesome opener or closer as well.
Not quite my Holy Grail to see live but top 3 for sure. I think it's a simply amazing song. I do agree that it is a song that should be played with the lights down....
Honestly I don't see why Present Tense isn't used to close. It's at the very least a perfect song to close a playlist you'd make for someone. Solid emotional opening half, excellent jam for the 3rd quarter and a bright cool down the final quarter of it
I got indifference as a closer last Buenos Aires show, it was awesome, it was grew for a change, didn't care about the lights, which were on since Baba, looking back, lights out would be a better choice, but it doesn't matter really...
I agree, I don't like this song as a closer. I like the song a lot, but I find it a sad and somewhat depressing one, and that is not the emotion I want to end a PJ show with. And i agree that it doesn't work at all with the house lights up. The closer should be a song that feels celebratory IMO, and indifference definitely doesn't feel like that to me.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
It would be the perfect closer. Release did close their first and arguably best album.
I think that would be a terrible closer. Possibly the worst closer imaginable, lol. WAY too sad and too close emotionally for too many people for the end of a show IMO. And Release is my favorite PJ song. A PJ show needs to end with joy, not the kind of tears that Release inspires, as beautiful as those tears are.

actually anything from riot act would be the worst closer imaginable. indifference is pretty sad, no?
I hope they start using The Fixer as a closer for everyone that wants a more upbeat song to end a show
