And I actually don't mind the lights up...it's kinda amazing looking around at all these people who are just as stoked as you are, tired, but so, so happy after an amazing couple of hours. Just that energy just calming down into a slow burner like Indifference, seeing everybody's hands up when Ed sings 'I will swallow poison...' I dunno. Just a perfect closer to me.

At first I questioned it in the closing spot, but now I love it. No way the lights should be bright however. Would like to see how it works as song #1 or #2 coming out of the first encore.

The problem with "Indifference" with the lights down, as a closer, is that I don't think the band wants to end their shows on a "dark" note anymore. It's the same reason "Parting Ways" probably won't ever end a show (again.) It's a bit of a shame really but the band seems to be having much more fun on stage than they did 10-15 years ago.
Just wondering (I suppose I could look it up): Were the lights off during "Indifference" back in 1994 - or even 2000?

No, no. I didn't mean that at all. I think it's great they are having a good time. If they weren't, I don't think they'd still be around. What I was implying was that it's a shame that I missed out on seeing the emotionally "heavier" performances of the two songs I mentioned.

The holidays....they make me do inexplicable things.
Understood, but in the future we'd all appreciate a little more focus from you.

I've heard Indifference three times now at least. Always one of my favourites. I think second to last would be the best spot, but it doesn't quite matter to me....Lights should be kept low for this though, better not to see my leaking eyes.

My buddy who has been to eight shows yet somehow never gotten Yellow Ledbetter...he's all set with it.
I'm running on 4 shows and have only gotten Indifference.
It's funny, I was thinking about that this morning, and now this thread pops up. I think overall based on boots and DVDs that I prefer indifference over YLB, but I still haven't gotten YLB as a closer, so I'm hoping to pop my YLB cherry this upcoming tour.

Saw the Hard to Imagine opener thread love that don't like this unless it's night one of a two night stand.

That being said I did always find it strange for a closer. I think it would be great as an opener or early in the 1st encore.
