Around the Bend would end a show nicely.

I love this song and it is great live - but I do not think it should be used as a closer - especially with the lights on. It worked well when they play it as the last song on night one of a two night stand - see Amsterdam 2014 - but not so sure about Detroit 2014. Thoughts?

    100% agree...

I always thought it should be played in the 1st encore with the lights down

Never liked it as a closer with the lights on, seems like you need the lights down for that song

Hell yeah, end the show with "this is just goodbye for now"
That would send me home with a buzz for sure!

Alive ended what could be my all time favorite pj show and it was wonderful. If you get a chance listen to 9/11/98 msg to experience alive as a closer.

Life Wasted with a 5 minute jam of Mike Shredding at the end would be sweet.

Hell yeah man. I'm on the side of the fence for biggest rock-out session possible to end on. I want to end a concert with my throat raw from screaming and hands sore from clapping. Emotional closers don't do it for me

    ANYTHING...

Is better than Ledbetter to close a show.

What if they played more studio version-ish?

I can't see 'Indifference' in any other place on the setlist except at the end!

    Exactly!

The thing with Ledbetter is it's just too much of a tease. SRV's version of Little Wing is one of my favourite songs ever and to hear just a snippet of it as a tag in YLB is honestly cruel.

I Wish they d close a show with release.

    Surely you jest
    Huh?
    Release as a closer?
It would be the perfect closer. Release did close their first and arguably best album.
I think that would be a terrible closer. Possibly the worst closer imaginable, lol. WAY too sad and too close emotionally for too many people for the end of a show IMO. And Release is my favorite PJ song. A PJ show needs to end with joy, not the kind of tears that Release inspires, as beautiful as those tears are.
actually anything from riot act would be the worst closer imaginable. ;)
    indifference is pretty sad, no?
Yeah, Indifference is sad too, which is why I said that is also a terrible closer IMO. Someone said Present Tense would be a good closer. I agree!

Indifference to open the first encore......bring it on.

I like Indifference as a closer, but I dunno, i've been lucky to see them 20 or so times so it's cool hearing something a little more rare than Ledbetter or RITFW.

But call me crazy...if they haven't played YL, and it looks and feels like they are "done" done...i always catch myself hoping Mike hangs around and starts it up

If he made an effort on the lyrics - instead of unintelligible mumbling with "wayside" thrown in every 3-4 words - that would be a big improvement.

I think the best days of YL are way over; the last good versions were in 2000 or 2003. Matt has a lot to do with it... and Eddie too; it seems to me they no longer put the same effort in that song as they used to, but that's another topic. Indifference and Fuckin' up are the best closers in my opinion, but Indifference needs to be played with the lights off.
If I knew where it was, I would take you there.

That's how I feel about Breath live but with the horrible humming filler. I have yet to catch it live tho.

I think I've only seen Indifferent close shows out twice. It was the backspacer tour in seattle that I finally heard it live. It doesn't get a lot of love (ie play) at the shows here in the Northwest. I really like the song, so closing with it (instead of Ledbetter) is still a novelty to me (as it's something I haven't seen too often).

My favourite closing is when they play Ledbetter but feel the urge to play another one. I think I've seen them bust out Baba o' Riley a few times doing that, and I think the Seattle '02 had a Christmas song after it.

Any time they play something after Ledbetter you know they mean business :)

I finally got Indifference at my last show - St. Paul '14. Agree that it should be played with the lights off, only to slowly rise near the end. Highly enjoyed it though!

I agree. I think YLB could be great, but it's really just kind of dumb because it has completely unintelligible lyrics. I consider it more of a joke than anything else. Hell, it would actually be better if Eddie sang the entire misheard lyrics from youtube, lol. Make me fries. =)
