Oh damn. I almost managed to forget about this beeotch.

Still spewing hate towards a good woman.

She's not a beach like you say. She was doing gods work, many others agree. There's a reason she's now free and back at work.. Because she didn't break a single law.

Still say she's braver than mlk
You are right, there is a reason she's now free and back to work. That is because she agreed to stay out of the way of people legally getting married. She actually did violate a court order, and was rightly jailed for contempt of court. She's out now because she agreed that she wouldn't obstruct the other clerks from carrying out their duties. She was doing god's work? Perhaps she should have been doing the work for which she was hired/elected. If she wants to do god's work full time then she should quit her public job and become a full time missionary or evangelist.
    No shit.

I guess her faith isn't that strong if she's willing to compromise her values.

Oh yeah... she's really ugly too.
Your attempts to troll are weak. You're only saying she's really ugly to bait me. Should be considered bullying. I don't go out of my way to simply insult you. Please don't do the same. I ask and ask but never am given any respect.

Looks like the pope agreed with Davis until the pc police showed up.
    Respect is earned.

I do agree that it looks like the Pope supported Davis until he realized everyone thought it was a dumb and rather gross thing to do. He/the Vatican is back pedaling like any other politician who realizes something they did is unpopular and makes them look bad.

I sort of agree except I suspect the Pope didn't have a clue as to who this woman was when she was "presented" to him. All he knew was the conscientious objector part. The Esquire article (I think I posted it here) is very interesting - all the back-stabbing and political maneuvering within the Vatican.

I agree that the Pope and the Vatican are back pedaling as fast as they can.

The Pope supposedly told Kim Davis directly that he supports her though. He told her to stay strong and thanked her for her courage. Those are not things just randomly said to people. Those comments obviously have a context. Sounds to me the Pope knew exactly who she is.

Agreed. The pope knew exactly who she was. Millions of people would give anything for an audience with the pope, yet he somehow invited a crazy fundie from Bumfuck, Kentucky or wherever she's from to meet with him. It was no accident. He got called on it and is now back pedaling.

But in the grand scheme of things, don't you think it is a pretty big step for the vatican and the church as a whole that they are back pedaling from this at all? In the not too distant past, I am pretty sure they would have been very proud to have met with her would have reacted very differently.

And he personally called and arranged to meet with a gay couple he knew from Buenos Aries.

She's not even Catholic. Usually, other Christian denominations are not even that keen on the Pope or Catholic Church. They are too into idol worship and all of their dogma strays pretty far from other denominations. I think that in the past they wouldn't have given this woman a second thought, but now that they have the PR machine all revved up, they figured they'd "cash in" on the publicity factor, but inexplicably failed to consider that the wave she's riding is made of bad publicity, and that she should have actually been avoided like the plague.

I'm not convinced he knew exactly who she is - I think there are so many people who get hustled in front of him - and I think he's a smart guy, but it's WHO got her in to see him, that's what I think is interesting. That's what I want to know. Is it really (according to the Esquire article) some weird Catholic anti Pope Francis group trying to make sure people don't think he's too liberal?

Please, as I type "too liberal" just know I'm smiling.

And PJ Soul, I also agree with your last post - pretty as a picture Kim Davis isn't a Pope fan. Not at all.

    It's all so weird.

As a lifelong atheist and sometime railer against the Holy See-What's-Under-My-Robe-Child, I've still gotta say that I'm with Enkidu, Chuck Pierce/Esquire and (gasp!) the pope on this one.

    Listen, all y'all, it's a Vatotage!

False. I have been respectful. Continue to be. Have been ignored by you in doing so.

do you remember the quote "hate the sin not the sinner" ? a lot of us and myself included forget that we judge to easily without seeing our own short comings (I'm real bad at that sometimes)
even if we remove the Christian view from that it's still true, not too many people are without fault at some level.

    Nobody's perfect. I agree.

Ultimately, this isn't a story about a virtuous woman standing her moral ground in my mind: this is a story about an angry mutant woman who wanted to be a bitch.

Yes... she defended herself by claiming she was guided by her faith... but we all know if her faith was strong... she wouldn't have been married four times or conceive twins in an adulterous affair.

And married four times? Like... are there no other women to marry?

To be fair and accurate, she didn't come to this expression of faith til she was on her 4th marriage. And in the 4th it was a remarriage to a previous husband.

I'm just patiently waiting til Ky Legislature convenes in Jan.
