why would you need to file a dispute before nicely asking Ames to cancel your order/get a refund?
Kind of jerky IMO0 -

sort of angry - It's kinda like paying for a Cadillac and getting an Escort and the dealer saying oh well.0

They should have just honored the first "handfull" of orders and then canceled the remainder. Everyone would be in the same position they would have been at that time if the sale was done as intended. I don't think people would have been pissed off either. They would have been dissapointed. The only negative to this would be those who bought the gold and could have bought a regular version before it sold out if they had known they weren't getting a gold.
Very strange way that they handled it. THey did not do anything for the customer but only tried to cover their own ass.0 -
not at all (IMO)...they already stated that all orders will be fulfilled and $ will be donated to charity without giving the buyer the choice of a refund or to continue with receiving one...so why not go ahead and file already? Hedging your bets and smart if you ask meMayDay10 said:why would you need to file a dispute before nicely asking Ames to cancel your order/get a refund?

why not give them a chance to refund after contacting them? By all indications, Ames just seems to want to do the right thing. I have had a lot of transactions with them and their customer service has always been top notch.
Does the window of filing a paypal claim go away after 24 hours or something?

I also don't think it's douchy. However, I don't know the mechanics of refunds, but I was told by a merchant who owed me on a hotel deposit that they weren't able to refund because I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Not sure about PayPal. They had to send me a separate payment back and there were weird transaction fee issues. Ultimately it worked out, but thought I should mention.elwayvedder said:

with PayPal, Ames just has to go to the filing/appeal and reply by refunding. All issues could have been avoided by a better customer experience and better decision making in resolving their errorSuziemay said:

I imagine Ames will need another day or two to figure out their plan. Based on just the responses here, it seems most everyone is unhappy with their response, including me. Hopefully they ultimately do the right thing and allow cancellations, as well as communicate clearly what our options are. If not, this will be my last Ames poster, which isn't much of a loss because there are so many other fantastic artists out there putting out great work.0

I was unhappy at first, but I want the print so I'm not going to sweat it cause ten years from now whether they give me $50 or $100 back it won't matter.
Just happy to get the print."Born on third, thinks he got a triple."0 -
I want the print and if it means there are more then I thought there would be I'm fine with it. I want it framed and up on my wall. Hopefully they will allow those who want a refund to get one and those of us that still want the print to get it.NYPJ0

ultimately, this is where I think its at.wall232 said:I want the print and if it means there are more then I thought there would be I'm fine with it. I want it framed and up on my wall. Hopefully they will allow those who want a refund to get one and those of us that still want the print to get it.
IMO, Ames overestimated the number of people who purchased the print who actually want to keep it... and thought they were making more people happy by increasing the run. We hear people complain a lot when they are shut out of stuff and they say "why dont they just print more?"... They were wrong. Maybe $250 is a high price point, but the gold print seems pretty unique and it should be sharp. I also doubt there will be all that many in existence.
I would bet dollars to donuts that they will honor timely refund requests. I dont feel like Ames went out to screw people over.0 -
I wasn't able to get any of the 3 editions of this, I understand people's frustration.
That being said if someone doesn't get their requested refund and wants to sell me the print at cost plus shipping I would be interested. I don't want to go to ebay. The best revenge is to live on and prove yourself - EV0 -
fair enough - but they f*cked up and need to make it right.0

I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.0 -
Isn't it like buying a Cadillac and getting a Cadillac? You're getting what you purchased.PJammin' said:buck502000 said:It's kinda like paying for a Cadillac and getting an Escort and the dealer saying oh well.

With the "options" you ordered as well. Gold, Jerry! Gold!CopperTom said:

I SAW PEARL JAM0 -
Right. Maybe the analogy works with a BMW and an Acura. You paid the premium for the BMW name and ended up with an Acura. Both having the same gadgets, but the name (or in this case rarity) that you paid the premium for did not exist.CopperTom said:
