True, but I'm still basing this off of the lowest order number and the highest. I have the highest and it's already an outlier compared to the other numbers posted.HesCalledDyer said:

Mine is based on facts - the posted order numbers. You really can't argue with that.pdalowsky said:

Lowest order number is in the 9600's highest order number is in the 11000's. About 400 orders.CopperTom said:

So…
130+85=215
215-400=185 +/- 20
Not rare… I actually think there is +200 of the gold. I'm hoping to have better order #'s.
I've read that there are 13000 order #'s but can't confirm.
I have confirmed what I mentioned above.0 -
Oh, the previous low I saw was 983x, so a new low in the 9600s does change things.tempo_n_groove said:

If you like the poster... keep it. The only motivation for the low number is flipping. I can almost guarantee there won't be another one like it in your town. Your neighbors and friends will still ogle over your gold transformers poster hanging in your parlor and won't care if it's one in 50 or 200. 200 is actually very rare.
Ames are good people. They made an honest mistake in their point of sale system. They tried to do right by the fans... assuming everyone who purchased one.... gasp! Wanted one!
It was a complete $250 impulse buy.0 -
Silver addition is where it's at. How many people posted about that one?0

when someone likes a poster i get it
when someone likes a poster and is collector and want it i get it
when someone doesnt like it but is a collector i get it...
when u was or not at the show i get it..
when someone is collector and want it signed and number i get it
what i dont get why someone is a collector or not and cares who many others have it??
200 or 400?whats the difference?you are in the cool kids list..why u care if u are 200 or 400 the kids in the cool list..
ofcourse i understand when someon e sell u a poster for 250 $ which is expensive and tells u limited of 200 and make 1000 well, then is not cool of them.but things happens..now its done..
what u want..to honor the sale or sent half of people refound? .cos still u got what u wanted ,right?
u cant complain if they honor the sale and if they cancel it..cant have both ways..
and if u are a flipper..well...i dont care how u feel..i hope they cancel your order and take 50 years to refound u"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".

Even if you like the gold, the value isn't there anymore. It's like buying a nice watch only to later realize it's a knockoff. You bought it because you like it, but now you're like it's not worth what I paid for it. You got gyped0
-
That's not the only motivation, I don't flip, but (especially if you ask my wife) I like to collect. Whether you collect PJ art, or contemporary art, or photography etc... You pay more for scarcity. So when it's no longer scarce the desire to pay more goes down.MayDay10 said:If you like the poster... keep it. The only motivation for the low number is flipping. Ames should refund people. It does not matter if buyers were gold lovers, collectors or flippers. They said handful. That's not true. Plain and simple. It is really bad for their reputation. Really bad. Not acceptable. If there was an error it's their fault.0
-
We should show Ames the power of the Ten Club and boycott them. Boo on Ames for royally fucking this up and choosing to not make it right when they had a chance. P.S. Other artist's work is totally destroying Ames!!!! Mic drop, see you at the show...0

Exactly. I have a feeling in this case, no matter what they did to try and fix the problem, people would be pissed off.CopperTom said:They didn't cancel the orders. It could be worse.

I actually think their response has been decent, much better than cancelling orders. Would just like to see a partial refund to maybe match the selling price of the chrome.
Anytime I've had an issue in the past they've been great to work with, I don't expect this will be their final answer, and if it is, oh well.Post edited by scurtis on"Born on third, thinks he got a triple."0 -
That is EXACTLY how that email should have read.dfishberg said:The Email from Ames should have read:
Dear Valued customer:
Due to a technical error on our website, we sold more of the PJ NYC metallic gold poster than planned. The original run was going to be X copies but due to the technical error the run ended up being X. If you would like a full refund due to this error, please email us at X site by X date. If we do not hear from you by X date, your order will be shipped in full and the profits from oversold posters will go directly to the Vitalogy Foundation. After we ship all of the posters, we will let you know how much we have raised for the Vitalogy Foundation. Once again, we apologize for this error.
Thank you.

Even one that mentioned the total number sold without offering refund. no guessing.. counting order numbers etc... to try to determine what your $250 investment got you. I'm sure they would have still pissed off a few that would ask for a refund. But not to the extent their vague email did.
one thing they should do regardless is number the release whatever it turns out to be.

I could see Ames pulling a fast one and somehow getting the band (or maybe a member or two) to sign all these gold editions. Wouldn't we all feel dumb canceling our orders then....0
