    If Paris was any indication, I'm not going to bother trying to be upfront in Italy. I'll be enjoying the shows way more a little more in the back.

    I'd say it will be the same - it seems to have been a pattern (everywhere except Antwerp - sounds like it would have been my dream gig). As someone posted earlier, they should have a mosh pit somewhere down the back, since they won't be seeing the band anyhow.

    I also heard that Milan will be wild, considering past experience of those who went there.

    Better to aim for the back and sides of the pit!

    For Pistoia, if it's same as for the Blues Festival, there could be a "tribuna" - basically, they put up an area within the square with seats and anyone can go.

    The Point in Dublin was full of w*nkers, especially near the front. I'm 6'2 but had to move about two thirds of the way back just to have space to breath.

    really?? we were right at the front and it was almost too comfy!

    well, guess i am one scrappy/tough little NYer. ;) haha. thanks to barbara queueing up early in bologna for us and sure, spending serious time in the crazy 10c queues myself, managed to be on the rail/front row for every italian gig sans the seated verona show....which my paultry 10c # still managed to garner 4th row dead center!...and i survived em all! i knew there'd be no way i'd survive in the crowd, crushed like that...but up on the rail, sure got crushed...but also got water, and most importantly, air. bologna was by far the hottest, milan the most molesting...but yea...i made it and it was completely worth it. BIG thanks to my fave israelis in pistoia...you really saved me there after all my injuries/travels/4 other shows and total exhaustion, don't think i'd have made it otherwise. also too, HUGE thanks to pearl jam...b/c no matter how hot/crushed/in pain/exhausted i was, once those first opening notes began, i was completely rejuvenated. :D amazing, amazing times!

    I'm glad Americans have pretty much quit moshing. I guess it was cool in the early to mid 90s ... last time I was in one was an early Foo Fighters show, right after their 2nd album came out ... but it just got obnoxious, and I'd be really dissapointed if it happened at a Pearl Jam concert.

    for what I know, the front in Dublin was pure heaven compared to the middle! :eek:
    I mean, I'm quite a tough chick but being in the middle was just way too much! people were pushing each other around and jumping on everyone. alright, I get the jumping, obviously but the pushing..
    that's why I had to go to the side, I literally could not breathe anymore. luckily people closer to the sides were nice and let me go past them. (thank you!) I must've looked like hell (lol.) trying to make my way asking "could you let me through? I'm going to the side, I can't breathe.."
    but then on the side, it was lovely. sure, people were jumping around and on top of everyone but there was more room and I got a better view. :)

    luckily they played Given To Fly right after DTE so I had a chance to move.. lol. I've always loved that song and now it's basically also saved my life! :D:D

    Like Buru said, Arnhem was a walk in the park, kay not 1st row, but 10 / 15 meters back. Antwerp I was not holding on to anything and people just ran to the front the moment they started playing. I let no one thru and stood my ground, but still pretty annoying.

    do what we did. get to the 10c queue early, we normally got there between 12 or 1 pm. everyone there early got rail. the italians got a bit pushy about it and the 10c queue got a bit uglier than needed, would be nice if there was more direction/supervision but that's another story/thread....but yea, anyone there early was guaranteed a front row spot. basically, that's all you need; get there early, queue, grab some rail and hold on! :D that's how i managed to survive 4 rough and rowdy italian GA shows from start to finish, i never gave up my spot. verona was a nice break, assigned seats, lots of space to dance in the pouring rain. :) great times.

    A few friends of mine attended the shows in Italy and told me basically the same, and also added to ask for the people near me to watch my back (they said almost every 10Clubber they met was very kind and generous).
    so I think thats what I'm going to do. thanks again. :)

    seriously, i was a bit concerned myself at first after reading accounts from earlier euro shows. i am not all that young anymore, altho still younger than the band ;)....and i'm not in bad shape, but not great shape either. :p ha. anyway, i REALLY wanted to fully take advantage of being at GA shows and getting front row which otherwise i'd never be able to manage with my 10c # in the states. so yea, completely worth it.

    i found that in italy in particular, it was the same 10clubbers over and over in each city, traveling for shows, italians and non-italians alike, traveling from all over. so yes, people really looked after each other it was so great. it's a lot of work, but so worthy....glad i made the effort b/c it was unreal to be on the rail for every show. if i can hold on i am sure you can too. amazingly, there aren't that many 10c tix for each show so even if you got there later, but before the early entry time, i bet you'd still get rail. enjoy! :)

    Well, with you being not so young and me being 16 (which is maybe a bit too young :D), the fact that we both can enjoy shows from up-front is pretty great!
    I'm really happy for you. being on the rail for 5 (or was it four?) consecutive shows sounds dreamy!
    I will enjoy every single moment of my first show, that I can assure you.
