    Although Ed is my personal favorite, its hard for me to see him above Freddie Mercury
    and Mick Jagger.

    I would put him in the Top 20 (definitely his vocals on albums from 1991 - 1995). He isn't #2 though.

    Bono is missing from the list and that makes no sense at all. He should be top #3. In my opinion.

    Agree! This list really is missing some names. Eddie Vedder and Bono are my favorite vocalists.

    Maybe not a polished singer like some of the others, but originality and raw power puts him in the top five for me.

    If it's vocalist. I put him above Jagger and below Freddie. Frontman, I'll put him below Freddie and Jagger.

    Any list of the Greatest Rock Lead Vocalists of All Time,
    that doesn't include Tina Turner is flawed!!!
    I would also have to argue that Michael Stipe, Ann Wilson & James Taylor
    should be included as well!

    That's not a bad group of singers but I don't agree with the order. Freddie Mercury should be number 2! Layne Staley and Maynard should be above Kurt Cobain.

    I'd still have Eddie in top 5 maybe top 10.

    I am okay with 1 & 2 but beyond that it gets weird. I would not put Ozzy Osbourne anywhere on the list. I think his voice is awful. ( Apologies to Sabbath & Ozzy fans...)

    I would move Chris Cornell up. I agree with Dave on Michael Stipe. Love EV but I think that there are a few that should go above. Where's Bruce Dickinson?!

    Personally, I am not a fan of Mick. But his freedom and uninhibited creativity made it possible
    for soooo many who came behind him. Both tore down so many racial and sexual walls.
    I just have to give Mick his due, but will entirely agree that I choose Ed every time vocally.
    Its also difficult for me to NOT have Freddie at number 1, even though I like Zeps music better.
    I think Plant would take the back seat to Freddie, I don't believe Freddie could allow
    himself to ride behind Plant! End of the day, the cat is sickeningly talented...

    YES to this! Should have been included. Underrated when it comes to vocalists out there, but I think his voice is near flawless. In the same vein, Paul Simon. Similarly flawless voice!

    I just don´t get this Kurt C. hype. I mean yes it was great at the time but why does he deserve a higher spot now? For his fantastic voice or his long time as lead-vocalist?
    Sorry, but you can not compare him with the other great vocalists who are around since decades.
    And it should has nothing to do with personal taste in music.

    Ed won't be #1 but he should be in the top 10 for sure. Early days his persona was way to intense & he is not say a performer such as Jagger or Mercury but if there was a top 10 for the most the important front man with everything he does off the stage as well as on it & his songwriting he would be #1.

    1. Mick Jagger (because of longevity, songwriting--so many great albums, the British invasion factor, stage presence and showmanship, and a voice that is unique as it is impressive)

    And then everyone else and I wouldn't argue against Ed being in the 2 spot.

    I'd make a good case for Joe Cocker to be on that list along with many other names mentioned here. I don't know, man. PJ is my favorite band of all time, but I don't know if I could even put Ed in the "Top 20 Rock Lead Vocalists of All Time."

    ANOTHER great one mentioned here...the fact that the only woman on the list is Stevie Nicks says a lot about the quality of the list!!
