I went to a few Super bowls in the 80s.....as I recall, the face value was around $35!
  • Just out of curiosity what is the face value range? I'm from the UK, so have no idea, but our UK main football cup final ranges from around £60 - £125 i think. The champions league was around £90 - £310 for normal tickets!!

I'll be there... too bad my beloved Bears won't be, I wish I could sell my tickets and save the cash for when my team were playing, but they're a gift, so I can't.

I plan to make the most of it!

Amazing! How did you get tickets as a gift?

My father-in-law has business in AZ and asked one of the big corporations he has a contract with for tickets... he only got 2 tickets, but knows I'm a sports junkie, so he gave them to my wife and me... no complaints about my in-laws :)

Face Value has risen a lot in recent years.

Back in the day, all tickets were the same regardless of seating location. I know Super Bowl XX (in 1986) Face Value was only $75/ticket.... when I went for XLI (in 2007), the face value was $650/ticket. The last few years, they've had tier pricing. This year they range from $800 to $1900/ticket FACE!

Thanks for this, a very interesting article!! I understand supply and demand, but there is not much chance of your average fan getting / affording a ticket, especially when you add transport and accommodation into the mix as well! Sounds an amazing experience though!!

Soooo, nobody wants these mugs for some SB tix? They're very fucken rare. Collectors items and plus when the games over, you'll still have these mugs to drink your rum or tequila in.
  • Got a pair of $950 face tix for the "friend" price of$1200 each. Not bad.

If any of you come out to the SB make sure you come to Scottsdale for the ESPN Fanfest. Unlike the NFL version this one is free and looks really cool. ESPN has set up a football field and quite a few sets for all of the live shows. They also have a kids corner where the kids can do lots of football activities and tons of food trucks and vendors. Its at Fashion Square Mall along the north side. I work across the street from it and got to go take a peek today before all the tourists show up while it was dead. Nice free event for SB week.

Well my biggest fear happened. I got out to Phoenix all the way from Maine only to find out me and thousands of other fans got screwed with tickets due to secondary markets canceling orders and then reselling them for 5x more. Espn had a big article on this today! Shady!!! I know this is a long shot but can anyone help out a fellow ten club member I'd never forget it. Pm me please with any options! Thanks! Go Pats!

^^^^^ I hope you find tickets. Good luck and I hope you can sue the broker for this..

This is slightly different than what happened to person above and just as worse. Brokers need to be banned. I read a few days ago the secondary market behaved differently this year and that brokers would be eating it in the shorts. Normally the price for tickets drops consistently at a predictable rate as the game gets closer. Brokers sell tickets they don't have yet when the price is at the highest, right after the championship games. They assume they will buy them later at a reduced rate and make a hefty profit. The rates didn't drop this year, it went up 4x instead. The brokers took on an inherent risk that this could happen. People are now arriving here in Phoenix to cancelled ticket orders as well as the brokers chose to not lose the money and just cancelled orders. The most fucked up thing of all is they will be right back next season doing the same shit.

I did not, tried all weekend to find one, went to the stadium the day of just hoping to find anything but the average asking price was 10k. Ended up at a bar next to the stadium where you had to pay 100 bucks just to get in and spent the entire time getting told I suck at life by Seattle fans because I wore my pearl jam Worcester Mass shirt ( the one with the old patriot logo playing guitar) as an effort to represent my favorite team and band. I was really shocked at how many jerk fans from Seattle gave me crap, if it would have been just a few people trash talking all in good fun I wouldn't have cared one bit but that wasn't the case. My rants over now lol. Pats!!!
