I agree with many choices listed already (MMJ, Neil, QOTSA) but wanted to mention one that hasn't been yet...Widespread Panic. Interesting blend of crowds. Not sure if Panic played Bonnarroo the year PJ did or not but probably seperate nights if they did. Would love to see these two in one night.

Panic was the closing act... such a great year at the Roo! - - - Would love to see Pearl Jam at Bonnaroo again!

  • Same genre of music or does it matter?

    Uuuhhhmmm, how about:

    Black Crowes
    The White Buffalo
    Tool
    Rage Against the Machine
    Tedeschi Trucks Band
    Gov't Mule
    ABBA

Just to name a few. Soundgarden would be great but you have to give Matt a break. Drumming for two bands each show will wear him out.

Good to see another White Buffalo fan on here! Although I do not think he would be a great opener for PJ, an Eddie solo tour w/ White Buffalo would be incredible!

There was a rumour back in the day that PJ asked Radiohead to tour with them, but they (Radiohead) weren't in to it. If true, it's too bad cause that would have been ridiculous!

Beyond that, get John Fruscisnte back in the Chili Peppers and I'd be good with that.

For me, it would have to be old Rusted Root. Stopped listening to their newer stuff a while ago. My husband brought home some CD for me that was new at the time and I couldn't even make it through it. Traded it at The Exchange for something else.

Everyone loved that they got rid of the opening band so PJ can play longer, and now they want to cut the set in half? I don't get it.

What? Negative on Mumford? Both of their albums are outstanding and they are so different and unique to anything else that is passing for 'popular', outside of Jack.

it all depends on who they headline with. If it's a band I love, then I'd be all over a shorter setlist from both bands. A 24 songs each setlist from PJ and from, say, Jack White or QOTSA?? YES PLEASE! But if it were, say, Mumford & Sons, like some people suggested, I'd be really disappointed. Hardly anyone is into an opener because the openers usually kind of suck (in many people's opinions). If PJ had a super awesome opener, I'd be all over that too. Although even if they don't have an awesome opener I don't really care, since PJ never lets that shorten their own play time anyway... But it makes things harder for the people up front in the pit. Just adds an hour or more to their standing/bladder filling time. :P

I feel like 90% of people would agree with you that they would love a co-headline with one of their personal 'top-tier' bands.... (which I'm sure is who everyone above named.) but that group of bands is so different for everyone that the greater majority of fans would feel like the coheadliners are PJ + Mumford, which I agree with you, is dissapointing.

Not a fan at all Brah. Their music doesn't do it for me.

Maybe ALT-J. That would be interesting if I couldn't have The Weeks play with them.
