I say this with the utmost respect as a music lover; maybe you should find something else to do with your wife, and go to concerts without her!Merkin Baller said:

Haha! Fair enough, but when it involves a mini-vacation (like flying from Boston to Denver for 5 days) I would be looking for a new wife if I DIDN'T take her!Suziemay said:

I have given her the option of going to the Foo @ Fenway, (it's ten minutes from our house) but I think she will pass, which will probably be best for all parties concerned!Post edited by Merkin Baller on0 -

Now, I only invite people if I know we're compatible for shows.
You could still take her on mini-vacations, but maybe she can go to the spa while you're at a show! Win-win!0 -
It's all good, she's seen PJ with me in Montreal, Brooklyn, Hartford, Wrigley & now Denver, she's been a great sport! (I'm pretty fortunate to have a girl who enables this obsession..... She likes PJ, but not as much as me)Suziemay said:

I'm a lucky man considering what she puts up with.0 -

I would pick the first episode just because I like the song the most....Seattle was good. I'm impressed with this series as it is really informative.Champagne Breakfast said:Fav Sonic Highways episode so far?? I'm trying to get into the Foo Fighters. I own none of their CDs or vinyl. I heard Stacked Actors on Sirius a year or so ago and liked that much more than the stuff on radio.
I just can't get into them for some reason.

My fav Foo Fighters are the first two albums (Foo Fighters, The Colour and the Shape), One By One and Wasting Light. I lost interest in them after the initial excitement, got back into them with One By One, lost interest again until I watched the documentary Back and Forth and then listened to Wasting Light.Gern Blansten said:

I first paid attention to them when I heard acoustic Everlong on Howard Stern. I still get the chills everytime I listen to that version. Dave gets a little theatrical now, but I always remember that performance.
If you want to give it another shot, I would suggest watching Back and Forth. It's probably my favourite music documentary, much better than PJ20. If I hadn't watched that, I don't think I would have been the least bit interested in the Foo Fighters right now.0 -
Loved Seattle, obviously. I think I learned the most from Nashville. I really liked Chicago and DC too.Champagne Breakfast said:Fav Sonic Highways episode so far?? My favorite scene is from LA when Taylor was freaking out about the guitar solo. I forget the guy's name, but as he's playing it, Taylor is sitting on the couch in the background and just getting his mindblow. I think around the 32 min mark? It was the funniest/coolest thing I have ever seen out of all the episodes.
The Seattle part about Dave's old recordings I thought was really inspirational too. I would love to start writing, and seeing that really makes me think I could give it a good shot and maybe get something halfway decent out of it.)

Thanks....I'll check it out
I love Nirvana and Dave Grohl but something just doesn't do it for me. A lot of the commercial FF songs just seem the same. Although I'm sure FF diehards might say the same thing about Pearl Jam. I don't recall hearing a FF song as sappy as The End or Future Days which make me want to pull my eardrums out.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

I've fallen a bit behind on the series, so haven't seen em all yet, but I enjoyed the DC one the most so far. I went to college near DC, so the whole music scene and the evolution of the city fascinates me. I remember during sophomore year, which was rough for me, listening to DC punk for the first time, and reading up about different people and bands, many of whom were featured in the DC episode. Got to learn a lot about go-go too, as my senior year I worked with a photographer who continues to work on a big project interviewing and photographing go-go staples. Beyond that, my first FF show was in DC in 2011, a show that means the world to me, I got to meet Dave in DC last year at a Sound City screening, and finally got to see the show at 9:30 Club (that place means a lot to me) featured in the episode, front row. So that episode was super cool for me to watch. For me, FF and DC are just synonymous.Champagne Breakfast said:Fav Sonic Highways episode so far?? They are definitely on the poppy end of rock, and I'm actually not a big fan of Sonic Highways the album and the series despite having pre-ordered multiple copies and that damn giant box!Gern Blansten said:Thanks....I'll check it out

I do admire the effort and I love Dave's passion.
The reason Back and Forth saved my Foo Fighters fandom was I thought it was very genuine and honest. And Wasting Daylight is a kick-ass album. A lot of those songs are featured in Back and Forth.

I heard that there's already around 150-200 people on line at Irving plaza already. Not sure if my wife and friend should even try at this point since they can't get there till around 1. Should of known the no line ups till 3 would never hold true.NYPJ0

Yeah, I have been monitoring the FF MB the past few days so see how it was going to play out...I have today off of work, but I can't get there until 2 or so. If they were adhering to the "no line before 3", I was going to give it a try, now probably not worth it. Wish they had just sold tickets on-line! We lucked out a few years ago with a Green Day show.wall232 said:I heard that there's already around 150-200 people on line at Irving plaza already. They have apperanlty asked the people to leave saying no line ups till 3 but no one has left. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.Jenfarr said:

But if they do make them leave, there will be a couple of hundred angry people milling about, and I don't want to deal with that. I know there would be people rushing at 3PM, but add a bunch of entitled people on top of that...not for me."McCready played on, lending credence to the theory that he was actually built in Stone’s basement from spare truck parts and vinyl records." - Glide Mag. review of MSG 7/8/030

Yeah, just hope it doesn't get ugly there. Stay safe to whoever is going.NYPJ0

Exactly, If I was trying for tickets and they didn't allow lineups, I would be essentially 'pacing' the block. This is probably the show with the biggest draw to get to since there is so many people within distance to get to it. Hell I considered it and i live in MDJenfarr said:But if they do make them leave, there will be a couple of hundred angry people milling about, and I don't want to deal with that.
