Yes, this was taken into consideration. I'm sorry, I have bad news for you....Godfather. said:and ......have you ever thought that if more people were armed these numbers would change for the better ?
...more people armed with guns translates to more gun deaths and gun violence.
Not only is it common sense, it's been proven by study after study. Why is this so difficult for you to wrap your head around?

Instead of bothering with skewed, not skewed, and semi skewed statistical analysis, why not just look at the simple fact that other countries outside the US that have few guns have fewer gun deaths? Like... almost all of Europe, for example. We're a gun crazy, death march, violent society trying to literally fight fire with fire.
I've said this before: I personally know very safe and responsible gun owners but I would not categorize the average gun owner as safe and responsible- not in America- no siree."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
actually blux, you CAN categorize your average gun owner as safe and responsible. your man in the previous page posted the numbers for gun deaths and injuries in 2014. something like 30,000 or something right? well if you didn't know this, there are around 300 million firearms in the united states with close to 40 percent of households owning a gun. the numbers speak for themselves don't they? i'd say that proves your average gun owner IS safe and responsible. otherwise how do you explain tens of millions of people and guns not involved in shootings? not sure why you're contaminating tens of millions of safe responsible gun owners other than obvious bias. I mean it's clear as day, the people involved in shootings and accidental discharges and suicides make up such a small tiny fraction of the number of people who own guns. it begs the question, what are those people doing that makes them unsafe and irresponsible? the tens of millions that you never hear about.....what are the doing that makes them irresponsible?
if you think what I believe is stupid, bizarre, ridiculous or outrageous.....it's ok, I think I had a brain tumor when I wrote that.0 -
It is totally based on biased. Partly it's like that George Carlin line about looking at how stupid the average person is and the realizing half are "even more fucking stupid". I don't trust Americans enough to want them running around with guns. OK- that's a really shitty bias and a lame argument. I may not be dumb but I might be lame. And the other part of it is the shot/dead people I've known. But I don't want to get into an argument over this yet again. I assume you are smart and handle guns safely so kudos to you and no offense intended.goingtoverona said:actually blux, you CAN categorize your average gun owner as safe and responsible. your man in the previous page posted the numbers for gun deaths and injuries in 2014. something like 30,000 or something right? well if you didn't know this, there are around 300 million firearms in the united states with close to 40 percent of households owning a gun. the numbers speak for themselves don't they? i'd say that proves your average gun owner IS safe and responsible. otherwise how do you explain tens of millions of people and guns not involved in shootings? not sure why you're contaminating tens of millions of safe responsible gun owners other than obvious bias. Colorado actually has a higher gun death rate than California, according to a recent Violence Policy Center (VPC) analysis of new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.whispering hands said:
The problem is being unarmed and not needing it, Is never going to happen. These are criminals we're talking about, look at Cali.. Half that Godforsaken state is wannabe ganstas! Even the old seniors moved outta Hemet cause of em! It's an epidemic problem. 1. Guns are too easily obtained with recourse. This has to stop.. Buuuut.. It's not going to. 2. You don't hear of NEAR as many shootings here in Colorado, ( not saying it doesn't happen, but it's not daily news either).CM189191 said:
So c&c is only for good for privileged white folk? There's a portion of our population who is disproportionately prosecuted for crimes, disproportionately falls below the poverty line. They don't have the means to purchase an expensive firearm, or pass a background check. Can't you see how this might exacerbate the problem?Godfather. said:
Fresno.....or FRestucky as it is also known, if went to Frestucky I'd want a CC to protect myself from the freaks that seem to gather there, have you ever been to Fresno or Sacramento or east LA ? those place's are thick with gangbangers.CM189191 said:

...yup, definitely need more people carrying guns
Perhaps the NRA should lobby the government to subsidize gun ownership programs for low-income, high-crime neighborhoods to show they're serious about the self-defense argument.
It's even better to be unarmed and not need it.Godfather. said:
it's better to be armed and not need than to be unarmed and need it.
Why is that?? Cause we get to carry our guns outside with our CCPs. And the dumb fuckas with unregistered guns all know that 80% of this state has guns too! It's not as easy here. Nearly everyone is armed, and you don't know, ( cause it's concealed), until you mess with the wrong grandma! There us reason in this " madness", and it cuts down on the really stupid crimes that happen all over except the right to bear arms states. Honestly, I didn't know what to think when I first moved here, cause I've been raised around arms all my life, and we always were taught, NOT to carry them around, now we can under this special permit??? However.. The rigors to GETTING this permit are highly set bars of accomplishment requiring several classes and other frets plus federal background and criminal backgrounds. So.. If you knew that 80% of the population was carrying, would you randomly fuck with people??
The study goes on to say, states with the lowest overall gun death rates have lower rates of gun ownership and some of the strongest gun violence prevention laws in the nation.
Furthermore, America’s gun death rates (10.38 per 100,000) dwarf those of most other Western industrialized nations. The gun death rate in the United Kingdom in 2011 was 0.23 per 100,000 while in Australia it was 0.86 per 100,000.
States with “strong” gun violence prevention laws were defined as those that add significant state regulation that is absent from federal law, such as restricting access to particularly hazardous and deadly types of firearms (for example, assault weapons), setting minimum safety standards for firearms and/or requiring a permit to purchase a firearm, and restricting the open and concealed carrying of firearms in public.
In conclusion, “Gun violence is preventable, and states can pass effective laws that will dramatically reduce gun death and injury,” states VPC Executive Director Josh Sugarmann. “Our analysis also shows that states with weak gun violence prevention laws and easy access to guns pay a severe price with gun death rates far above the national average.”

Looks like we might have some data on Stand Your Ground laws and their effectiveness. I don't think the results are what the pro-guns folks were looking for:
