Binaural Sequel?

No Pearl Jam album stinks in my opinion. Guess that's the difference between those that will always love the band & those that conditionally love the band.

Think about it this way- if you weren't a huge Doors fan, would you give a shit about The Soft Parade? Probably not. But die hard doors fans will argue back and forth all day about how fantastic that album is.
Soft parade is amazing. Their best (just ahead of strange days)
    6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/16
  • I am a huge Doors fan, but if I were trapped on a desert island with only the Soft Parade I would cut it into flippers to swim away with... I would love to hear the Binaural recording technique used again, BUT it would be cool if it were used to record stronger material. Binaural is a good album, but not their best songwriting, in my opinion. I would have loved to have heard Yield or No Code recorded that way. Or even Lightning Bolt.
Escape is never the safest path....

Poor adjective choice earlier. Pearl Jam is one of few bands where I love all the records. What does that say about fans who don't share the same sentiment? Who knows. Words escape me. Binaural is a beautiful record. I'd love to hear all of what Tchad Blake did to be honest.

I'm listening to the vinyl on my Beats studio headphones right now!
Great album! Of the Girl,Light Years,NAIS,Soon Forget and Breakerfall wow :)

Pj soul is right, one of there best sounding vinyls like LD and Riot Act
Took some time to grow but it's killer!

I wasn't a huge fan of avocado when it came out cause 10 000 Days came out the same day but I really enjoy that album now as well.

Makes me wonder if I'll like Backspacer in 10 years......

Why does it need to say something? Sounds like you think you are special or a better fan because you like Binaural. No great album can start with 3 clunkers like Breakerfall, Evacuation and God's Dice.

Binaural kicks ass! Great songs, great sound, I don't know what technique you are talking about, not my fav but almost, it took me 9 years to get the vinyl, that's why I cherish it, but during Binaural era I listened PJ the most, not only Binaural but all albums up to then, all 13 songs are worthy, Breakerfall, Light Years, NAIS, Thin Air, Of the girl, Rival, Grievance, SOH and Parting ways, one of the best closer, besides, the best non lp tracks are from that era too... If you don't like it it's fine but saying it sucks it's pretty far fetched...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

    That is some interesting insight.

    I love those 3 opening songs. :)
I know a lot of people particularly dislike Evacuation. But I dig it.

Binaural has spent some time as my favorite PJ album. It's amazing, and yeah, I'd love another album that has that darker tone. But recently Riot Act has surpassed it and become my #1.

I'd like to begin by saying that these two pages have felt like twenty and you have all given me a headache. Besides PJ_Soul 'cause she's always right.

Binaural is my favorite PJ record so another similar to it would be awesome. Production, song writing, album art, lyrics...all of it.
  • I wish they'd release a special edition with the songs aremixed and all those great Lost Dogs (Sad, etc) included. Not sure if a remix would improve it (like I feel it improved Ten) since the problem (for me) with Binarual is the actual recording...not the mix. Guess I shouldn't get ahead of myself though since some sort of No Code/Yield thing is probably coming.

As an elitist Pearl Jam fan, and musician, a remix would ruin this record in my opinion. The production on all the tracks is unique & fitting to the songs.

I totally disagree. All the uptempo songs blow on the record. Breakerfall, gods dice, insignificance, grievance....they all sound like dog shit on the record but they're all great live. That "Binarual" recording technique only sounded alright on stuff like Of The Girl, NAIS, and Parting Ways. And even those aren't that great sounding.

Ok, I'm an idiot...I still can't into Sleight of Hand though.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I think the drums on the up tempo tunes sound great.
