Loudest Concert

* I thought the 'Loudest Crowd Moment' thread on the Porch was this thread title. I'm curious to know what people think the loudest shows are.

I was at Iron Maiden at the PNE in Vancouver. I am certainly not a wuss (I have mild tinnitus from listening to music too loud), but at one point of the show, I thought blood was running out of my ears (no kidding!).

Freaking loud.

Wolfmother at the Queen Elizabeth blasted my face off too.

Soundgarden in Detroit. Hell of a show, but wow, they were loud.

I saw them play with the Queens of the Stone Age and both bands- back to back- were definitely a test.

In one day or two days in a row? We saw qotsa in Detroit last year too. I loved it. I had an almost hallucinatoric experience during A Song for the Dead. The show was at the same venue as Soundgarden, but not as deafening. God, I wish they would come back soon. I'd love another Qotsa show.

If just openers count, Mudhoney in Missoula 2012 opening for PJ. Jesus, everyone was starting to really worry because it was so loud it was making people feel sick, lol. So that was by far the loudest I've ever heard. It was awful.

After that it has to have been Iron Maiden, Vancouver 2008 (i think). Crazy loud! Even with earplugs it was hard core!

Edit: just fully read your post Thirty Bills! Yup, it was fucking loud!!

Great show though. Do you remember when Bruce stopped the show and gave those chicks shit for fighting?

Bad Religion at one of the Warped tour shows in 2009. I still have some hearing loss after that show.

Runner up: Lou Reed at a local venue several years ago. The bass was so loud I thought my internal organs were going to burst. During one of the songs someone from the audience screamed: "Please turn down the bass! You're killing us!" Thankfully the band adjusted their volume for the rest of the show.

I often wonder what the sound guys are doing when that's happening.

They're supposed to be the experts. Can't you hear it sounds like shit?

Uuhhhh, I wish i did because it sounds entertaining, but not at all - i guess i was completely wasted at that show (i do remember starting the party in the afternoon and drinking on public transit - I guess we had our minds set to go nuts!). I thought I remembered it all just fine, but now that you say that, who knows what else I forgot. Oops! :-\"

:)) I was worried for a second! ;) But, while even that video isn't triggering the memory (shamefully), I know I didn't get in a cat fight in the pit because I was in a seat near the side of the stage. Phew! :P

The loudest concert I ever saw was in 1991, David Bowie's Tin Machine at the Orpheum Theater in Boston. It was sonically clear, pure really, it wasn't at all distorted, but in terms of sheer volume, it was WAY too effing loud, it felt like my head was pushed inside a jet engine. I bailed after a song and a half. The second loudest, was in that same building, Keith Richards and the X-Pensive Winos, December 5th 1988. That one was just really really REALLY loud, but it was Keith, so I sucked it up.

    1. Take It So Hard (Jordan, Richards)
    2. How I Wish (Jordan, Richards)
    3. I Could Have Stood You Up (Richards, Jordan)
    4. Before They Make Me Run (Jagger, Richards)
    5. Too Rude (Roberts, Dunbar, Shakespeare)
    6. I Wanna Be Your Man (Lennon, McCartney)
    7. You Don’t Move Me (Richards, Jordan)
    8. Make No Mistake (Richards, Jordan),
    9. Time Is On My Side (Meade)
    10. Big Enough (Richards, Jordan)
    11. Whip It Up (Richards, Jordan)
    12. Locked Away (Richards, Jordan)
    13. Little T & A (Jagger, Richards)
    14. Struggle (Richards, Jordan)
    15. Happy (Jagger, Richards)
    16. Connection (Jagger, Richards)
    17. Rockawhile (Richards, Jordan)
    18. It Means A Lot (Richards, Jordan)

After the Tin Machine experience, nothing has been too loud.

Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Zombie (same show) left me with an intense ringing in my ears as well.

Kiss in a smaller venue did the same thing.

Chili Peppers in a club. 200 people tops and it sounded like they used their Wembley Arena setup. Ringing for days

I've heard Maiden is really loud!

I went to ACDC during the Razors Edge tour at MSG, 91 I think? The drummer is working the snare, movie theater style lights come on, guitar barely starts Thunderstruck and crowd goes bat shit crazy! I couldn't make out the song until it was halfway through. The crowd was that loud! So loud that it went silent. Eerie felling.

Same show, Hells Bells. Big huge bell comes down and Brian Johnson hits it with a sledge hammer… multiple times…

…Still the same show… For those about to rock and that cannon… Dear lord that was loud. I actually covered my ears.

My ears rang for 3 days after this…

2nd place goes to Metallica later that year at Nassau Coliseum. I brought ear plugs, decided not to use them, I was 14, what the hell did I know. Ears rang for a few days after that show too. One intro with the gunfire and pyro technics was loud.
