Was a fun show. Place was loud and rocking. A lot of extended songs and longer jams throughout the night. Was a fun, loud show that complimented Moline on Friday very well.
Expecting a pretty crazy set tonight in MKE. Looking forward to it and capping off my tour tonight with my boys.
And I have to say.....that was the most rocking I have seen those Backspacer songs.

I was about 10 rows back straight behind Ed. Obviously the energy was great, but the people I was surrounded by were too old and lame for the pit. I had a great time, and am not complaining, just surprised as any other GA ive been in is crazier than this, including shitty little shows in Montana.vant0037 said:

Weird. That's sort of where we were. The people around us were really into it. Now granted, not everyone pogoes to every song (something I find a little odd actually as it's nearly impossible to pogo on beat to most music), but nearly everyone around me was fist-pumping, finger-pointing, air-guitaring, singing and had hands in the air the entire time.cottagesteeze said:

I was also in the GA pit and I thought the crowd energy was great. Everyone around me was jumping around, singing every word and having a great time. It may not have been the craziest set list but the band delivered all night. Release, Go, RVM, Porch, Footsteps and even The Fixer was great. I do agree that the Dr. Tolar interlude was a massive buzzkill. I appreciate the efforts these people are making, but that seemed to last forever.
Overall had a great weekend in St Paul, its a nice city with incredibly friendly people everywhere. Thanks to Vant and his crew for setting up the bar crawl that was a lot of fun. I helped out at the preparty (raffle table with bee "girl"
) then my husband and I headed to the 1st level, halfway back from the stage. I was definitely way more into it than most people around me, and some have said MN or the Midwest is just more reserved, so maybe it's because I was born and raised going to arenas and small venues in Chicago
No one there has a problem head-banging, jumping, yelling, etc. So that's basically what I was doing the whole time, singing my heart out, to the chagrin of some of the more reserved guests around me
Next time I go, wherever it is, I'll try and hope for a GA ticket, so I won't be the only one around me singing all the words
I loved that they played so many of the faster, punkier ones like Go, Mind Your Manners, Rearviewmirror, etc. I've seen some setlists that are pretty low-key (for PJ), and for my first show, I'm glad I got to get some serious energy out with everyone. Plus I won't lie, Release and Black made me cry (both have personal associations for me), so obviously I'm grateful for their appearance too.
Also, I know it's a long shot, but it anyone has a sticker, poster, etc. from last night that they eventually don't want/need, I missed out on getting one. I would LOVE to have a memento from the show other than my ticketI gotta say it now, better loud than too late. 2014-10-19 St Paul, MN0 -

First show ever and I still haven't come up with the words to describe it. Truly amazing might be one way to describe it... Religious experience might be another.
What was up with the house lights going on during the last encore? Is that normal, or was the bldg management trying to tell them to get out?0 -
House lights up for the last song or two is very common for Pearl Jam. I think its nice. After having 3 hours of the band in mood/atmospheric lighting its nice to end the show with "full visibility" of the band and stage. Also PJ gets to see the crowd as well.
This is also not unique to Pearl Jam. Metallica did the same thing for the show I saw at target center.

This was my first time in the GA pit and we lined up about 30 minutes before the door opened. We might have been a bit closer but I had to get in line for the SWEET Ames Bros poster with vikings and the Conan-like banner. That took a good 10-15 minutes so we ended up between Ed and Stone about 10-15 people back from the stage. It was wild being that close, and the people around us were great.
Everyone seemed really into the show - singing, pumping fists in the air, bouncing around. There were a few guys who obviously wanted to start a mosh pit, and seemed pissed that no one else wanted to participate. Another dude was using the "let's mosh" technique to get himself closer and closer to the stage; lame. I will say that no one looked bored! And when Ed got into the crowd during Porch, everyone (politely) shifted forward and got closer to the stage. Overall, great experience in the pit.
I think this was my 7th or 8th show. I most recently saw them in Wrigley and Seattle last year. Those shows were also great - in different ways. I loved the duo of Pendulum and Release as a starter; ending with Indifference was a nice bookend. One of the things I really noticed in Seattle (I had tickets behind the stage) was how much fun THEY seem to be having when they play. That really translated during this show as well, and it helped that I could really see their facial expressions and such from the pit. There were fun moments like the band turning around to play to the back of the arena and Ed started to play Matt's drums. Matt looked over his shoulder and the two of them shared a laugh about it. Little things like that; it seems they genuinely enjoy playing and feed off the audience.
Some great classics like Black and Alive, and I thought Unthought Known was one of the highlights. It was a cool touch for Ed to wear a Minnesota Wild jersey and play Setting Forth from the Into the Wild soundtrack. If only it was Hard Sun...
Thanks for playing Minnesota!You will try.0 -
Amazing show! Even though it was filled with lots of hits, they came with amazing energy! They sounded great and Ed sounded the best that I have ever seen in the 5 shows that I have seen now. It seems like I have always seen them when he is sick.
I was really hoping for Release as the opener but was blown away after they played it 2nd, did not see that coming.
The set list was awesome, some of my favorites, where Release, I got ID, Unthought Known (loved this song since seeing it on Ed's solo show), Imagine and Footsteps. The energy that came straight from the beginning was great, especially when they got right to it with Go and did not let off until they slowed it down again in the first encore.
I have mixed reviews on the crowd, they seemed to be into every song and signing almost every word, but became quiet in between songs, especially at the end of the show. I think everyone was not expecting them to be done after Indifference, or they were just completing blown away from what they just saw.
We were in the GA Pit about 6-7 people back from Mike, who was on fire last night and had tons of energy as usual. I thought that the floor was definitely into it throughout the whole show. I got in line about 5:30 and was several 100 back from the front of the line, but was able to get right in and get pretty damn close to the stage. I would say that unless you really want to be on the rail, I would not wait all day in line.
So glad to see them come back to St. Paul and I sure hope that we do not have to wait another 11 years to see them here again!6/30/1998 - Minneapolis, MN 6/15/2003 - Fargo, ND 6/16/2003 - St. Paul, MN 7/02/2011 - Minneapolis, MN (EV solo) 10/19/2014 - St. Paul, MN0 -
Last night was show 15 for me. It was a cool show, but no moline, what can be! Went to a bar before the show and got smoked on vodka red Bulls. Highlights of show were lbc, footsteps and life wasted. During porch my brother, who was smoked- mind u, thought that was the show, I hit him with a surprise left that left his jaw hurting. On the way back to the best western the cabbie took a surprise left that almost put my bros head through the window. He was done for after that. Got juiced up at the bar on some captain cokes with some couple from minoqua, wi. Had to piss, got locked out of hotel room (forgot key of course) pissed down the stairwell, u gots to what u gots to do people! Passed out. On the way home for MKE show! Hopefully I dont piss in my sock drawer but I'm sure I'll try. Later!d2farmer0

Bastille might catch a lot of heat on these boards but props to the band for finishing their show and heading to watch the end of the first set and encore. They caught a lot of heat on Twitter from their "fans" who thought the band should have been out in the parking lot doing a meet and greet with all of them instead of watching PJ. I think the band made the right choice.0
