Don't get the picture taking. Can get great pics off this site. And we all know what band looks like. Enjoy the show. Live life in the moment. All about now.

I'm a photographer. I can take a decent photo. Not to say I don't see a few good ones on here, but if I could take a good, full size res. photo I'd put it on my wall, frame it. It would be MY photo. And blown up it would be sharp, not fuzzy. Trust me I enjoy the show. I don't shoot all night. A few shots, a couple of minutes and I'm done. Back to the show. But alas....

Understand And your actually taking pictures that are quality. Course for everyone of you there are 2000 iPhone pros. Shot above was stellar.

I'm at work. I don't get to see thte photo above. All I see is an x :(
    I'll check it out later
Regarding the iphone pros, I hear ya. "Phones in the air, what what". It's everywhere, I took my daughter who loves Lorde (she's 13, so I'm proud of her) to her concert and that's all you could see. My daughter loved the show anyways without a phone (she doesn't have one).

Agree. Live in the the present tense!
  • i go non-stop the entire show and i like to think my energy infects others, but i get that it is difficult when the people around you are stiff or obsessed with taking photos and videos on the phone.

i just go with what i do regardless of the people around me. if they don't like my jumping around, then whatever, cause i don't like their standing around.

I was in the pit last night in Memphis and I am not sure I would try for those tix again. I had sloppy Annie next to me, sloppy Joe behind me, and throwing bows in front of me. Sloppy Annie couldn't hold her liquor and was falling and flailing all over the place. Sloppy Joe was dry humping my husband from behind just to stand up and he was a sweaty mess. I asked my husband if he at least got a reach-around from sloppy Joe-no luck there. Throwing bows hit me in the face twice knocking my glasses off once. Not to mention he took about 4 selfies per song with his back to the stage. I'm not old by any means, jumping around, dancing, singing, I'm all for it. But if you can't hold your liquor then limit yourself. And HALTS MAUL to everyone texting and taking selfies during the entire show!

Why didn't you just find a new spot? That's the best part of GA. You aren't trapped in one place.

Agree and respectfully disagree. Could have gone and rode the back rail. It was about an hour in before any of the "sloppys" came around. They seemed to just wander by us from nowhere. After that long no one is going to let you take a spot in front of them, we were about 5 rows back on Mikes side. The couple of times people relocated to where we were whoever they stood in front of told them they had to move on. People stand in one spot for up to two hours and don't usually appreciate someone wandering over mid-show to stand in the 6 inch gap between them and the person in front of them. It was a shame too because we had a good view just amateur drinkers making it uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong, the show itself was amazing, and I'm glad I got the opportunity to be so close, just question if the pit is still the "best seat in the house"

I was at Memphis too, about 3-4 back between Mike and Jeff. For the most part, I thought the crowd was fairly lively. Most I could see where getting into things. No jumping but there was bobbing and bouncing. My two biggest problems were:

    1. People trying to fill in gaps - There is a 6 inch gap between me and the people in front of me for a reason and it isn't to save you a spot! You may like me rubbing against you but I don't. This not only goes for the gaps directly in front of me, but all those in my area. News flash: only so many people can fit comfortably in an area, and those of us there figure out that number pretty damn quick. You coming in later not only affects the people you get directly in front of, it also affects EVERYONE behind and to the sides. Now, they all either have to move into someone else's space or get squished themselves.

I'll add, this includes people trying to fill gaps left by those going to the bathroom or to get a drink. Do you REALLY think that 3 foot gap is unoccupied? Happened in front and to the left of me. No idea why the guy's friends let a random lady take the spot. I guess because it didn't directly affect their place but it sure f'd up all the rest of us.

    2. People videoing with their phones from GA - A few photos, I get that. Though multiple every song is a but much, but videotaping? Really? Guy in front of me decides to record an entire song. Of course to do this he has to hold the phone above his head blocking the view for anyone behind him. Luckily it was just the one song, but damn it's annoying.

There were multiple people around me taking photo after photo, then editing the one they liked best, coming up with something clever to say, and posting it to some social site. Essentially missing the entire song because they were looking down the entire time. I get making a post or two to let all your friends know how close you are and being excited. That's fine. But damn man, after that, put down the phone and enjoy the show!

I'm all for people enjoying a show however they want, as long as it doesn't impede my ability to do the same.

I’m seeing a trend that frankly sucks at PJ shows in the US. People with GA pit tickets that don’t want to get even the slightest bit rowdy during the show. Now I’m not saying we go Full Metal Ahole but let’s dance, jump around at least attempt to make take it up a step from a Gordon Lightfoot show. I know there are a few people usually towards the middle of the pit that get going but man I’m getting looks like I’m insane for doing a little jumping during Porch, DTE, Lukin… Please dudes these are rockers and I’m glad you brought your 9 year old to their first show but step back 10 feet in the pit and let some people get down.

    Bring back the MOSH PITS!!!

You can't hold up a phone when you're moshing. It takes care of both problems.

As much as I hate moshing now days cuz I'm an old fart, I def 100% agree with this post. Plus I always take reserved seats so I won't be around any pits, mosh away fuckers! \m/
