I still haven't come down after just 5 hours sleep. More thoughts later.

But epic will do for now. Simply epic.

I will never see a better setlist than last night.

So many rarities and a fantastic venue.

This band never ceases to amaze me!

That tops any gig I have ever been to, it was simply immense.

You are too emotional right now. Take an analytical look in a few weeks and then come back and say if Spice Girls are down to the 2 spot.

Shocked at how good this show was. I don't know if I have been to a show with a better set list. I am usually not one to get excited about Ten songs, but the band and crowd was soooo good that bringing Jeremy out late in the 2nd encore was a perfect choice. Just about the whole floor was jumping during that tune. Amazing.

Floor was a bit rough at times with lots of pushing and crowding. Fun for some and not for others.

Fatal was great even with the Stone f up. Ghost was fun even with the Ed/Jeff f up followed but a selfie taken by Ed w/Jeff with the phone thrown on stage. Ed let the crowd sing the famous lines at the end of black and then took the mic and sang again. Added the we belong together tag with the meaning being the crowd and band belonging together. Ed used the term strangest tribe a lot for the fans. Crowd did a Sirens outro tag after Ed's outro tag. Ed seems to sing Push Me Pull Me differently each time I hear it - tough to sing along too. Crowd was perfectly silent for Man of the Hour. Ed left out the last verse of Indifference which is happening often these days - but who cares it still is great.

  • Quiet simply outstanding!
Thank you to Pearl Jam they keep on giving. Fatal was my personal highlight followed by of the girl plus so many other gems .The band & crowd were on fire. I knew they would blow the roof off the amazing venue when the show was announced.
Thank you to 10c too for great seats, 4 rows from the front almost central.

Loved it. Sadly had to leave early - part way through leaving here but was blown away by the set list. Only downside for me was the crowd around me were very quiet

This gig was epic! I thought I might be in for a less than good night as I missed the 10c sale. The ticket I managed to get was possibly the worst seat in the house, right at the back and sat next to a couple talking about how pleased they were that PJ had 'got back together' and how they had 'better play f*cking Jeremy'. They did complain throughout the gig and walked out halfway through smile (ironically not long before Jeremy.)

But apart from my insane jealousy of those in the crowd downstairs, I was gripped by this gig very quickly. It didn't matter anymore that I was the only one up there singing and dancing to anything that wasn't off ten. Tremor Christ was absolutely incredible and Fatal!! The band were tight and on top form. Ed looked like he just never wanted to stop playing. 50 minutes over curfew in the end. Can't wait for Friday!

I think Indifference was cut short. There was no "fills this room!!!". Unless I missed it? But I was stood like right there. Am I going mad? :D

Yeah it was cut short, looked like Eddie signaled to the others that he could sing no more...

Last night was something special - it wasn't for the passive fan. They usually throw a couple of rare songs into a setlist, but last night they threw a couple of hits into a setlist constructed from rarities. Too many highlights to mention really.
The band were clearly loving it, and didn't want to stop. 3 hours 20 mins is epic!

That show was beyond sensational - the best I have ever been to. The band were on fire and clearly up for it from the start. Eddie didn't look best pleased when falling over during Baba (or was it Baba? My memory is full of astonishing rarities!) Crowd was relatively tame on Mike's side but had their moments. He must have thrown about 50 picks into the crowd, and I didn't get one unfortunately. Well done to the blonde lady two rows in front of me in the front row who bagged the set list! There was also an American guy with a silver shirt and hat constantly moaning. "Play Black before we all leave here!" At this point I was sort of hoping they wouldn't play it but hey-oh. He should have been chucked out of the crowd for smoking anyway but the security were amateurish and dreadful.

So many songs to tick off my list. Onto show #6 on Friday at Milton Keynes which could be one better, let's see. Cannot wait!

Also, Ed mentioned something about Milton Keynes and how they havent sold that many (judging by the amount of adverts I see for it). Something like 'I'll pay you 10 bucks each to come to Milton Keynes'.

I spoke to a steward on the way out - the show was due to finish at 23:00 so they blew past that by 45 minutes. She was being paid overtime though so she didn't seem to mind.

Absolutely fantastic gig, was surprised how close I could get to the front. Awesome venue seems like the band loved it too, felt like a club gig. The merch was excellent and the choice of songs was pretty sweet too. Faves were Present Tense , Push Me, MOTH, Who You Are.

My only gripe...........bumping Parting Ways for Fatal. Not.Good.

Roll On Milton Keynes, Keeping my wristband on despite the fact I'm old enough to know better.

What can I say? Quite a lot actually. The one & only show I could afford this tour, & lucky I am it was this one.

I knew it was going to be special - last of the Evenings With... and in the place of The Who's legendary Live at Leeds album. I was expecting a Who cover - but 3?! (or two & a kinda Who cover...). Just wow... Not to mention, TEN new songs for me, and two others that I haven't heard in a decade and a half and more...

The queue without numbers seemed to work just fine. Nobody took the piss in taking off for long periods. One of my fellow Irishmen bought a guitar & regaled us for about as long as the band would later. Arrived about 8:30am - about 18 hours after the first guys in the queue yet still was just behind them - 2nd row right in front of Ed. And what an intimate club-feeling venue for a 14,000 capacity arena! Loved it!

Was hoping for Pendulum, so I was blissed out from the word go - and Of the Girl afterwards (1st time for me) was so beautiful. Loads of songs from the neglected albums - No Code, Binaural & Riot Act - which was wonderful. Bizarre that the only album to get overlooked was BS! A quick word about my disappointment (very slight, given how incredible the whole thing was): only four LB songs for my only LB show... I know they're rare & they're great but I've now had Push Me Pull Me and Setting Forth 3 times in about 4 or 5 shows, so it was disappointing to see Swallowed Whole scratched for SF. Still...

Small Town is great early on to get the crowd singing & the crowd were in spectacular form all night. Breakerfall was great to hear for the first time since 2000, but for the next few songs, I lost concentration because it was so tight and tough. Mind your Manners & Lightning Bolt are both so, so terrific live - I think LB will be a classic for years. By this point, it was obvious the band were on fire and Ed in particular was like a wild man.

Tremor & Wishlist eased the pressure a bit. A lovely tip of the hat to my PJ-neglected hometown, when Ed introduced his new tech - Simon from Ireland & Mike confessed to getting naked in Dublin (I don't remember that!). Who You Are was a dream - last time I heard it was in Dublin 18 years ago. My heart broke for Dimi at Ghost...

Even Flow and Sirens (& Black later) were all about the crowd singing. The Let Stone/Jeff Sing run was hysterical - first Disney, now Abba?! Both Jeff & Stone were in great form.

The Army Reserve speech was powerful, & the addition of PT was inspired. Ed talked related himself as a kid to Chris McCandless in wanting to see the world but said he'd lived a lot of his youth in Leeds through the Live at Leeds album.

As for RVM - UNBELIEVABLE version: Jeff & Ed crouched eyeball to eyeball for the whole jam, Ed & Stone leaning on each other for the biggest RVM finale I've ever heard.

MoTH was a tough one for me - I lost my uncle to cancer just after that song came out & it helped me through that. Also a family friend is struggling with cancer now just months after getting married. So Ed's introduction had me welling up before he even started the song.

All or None - wow. Another first for me, and Ed in genuine awe of Mike, genuflecting at him at the end. Fatal was a truly beautiful surprise, and after my Who prediction came true, an utterly transcendent, trippy Porch jam. I started filming, expecting to see Ed swing the lights over my head but he went one better - stood up on the rail right in front of me, holding the hand of the person next to me and sang the last chorus (video to come :-) )

I was worried about the short 1st encore - already nearly curfew & when Leaving Here (more Who - woo!) followed Smile, I was expecting Alive & YL to follow. So everything else was bonus after bonus after old-skool bonus. Jeremy was terrific. Ed missed intoducing Jeff again - and Jeff looked pretty pissed off for the first half of Baba, but Ed's antics had him laughing by the end. Baba was wild, tambourines flying, Ed taking trophies from the crowd all over the place - flags, banners, clothes, a basketball! I lost count of how many wine bottles he handed out. And then he fell over his monitor, knocked it over, nearly fell off stage & looked pretty shaken. But taped to the back of the monitor when it toppled - Watchtower lyric sheet! :-) Really sweet moment when he asked Mike if he could play out the last chord of Baba himself - totally in Who-fan zone. Mike gave him his guitar and he pinwheeled like Pete on speed!

And it just kept going! It can always be a bit hard to tell who he's really looking at but it certainly seemed like Ed locked eyes with me for the last verse of Watchtower, both bellowing the lyrics at each other. An amazing finish. A shame he missed the last verse of Indifference - Jeff & Matt looked bemused. But who cares, really, after a show like that, with my favourite band playing my one show this year as if they - one and all: yes, even Stone - looked like they were having the time of their fucking lives just as much as we were. I'm blown away - I will never forget that show. Never...

    Pure stoke...

No, Eddie definitely forgot the last verse of Indifference and the others just looked at each other like, what is going on here? Then they just sort of ended the song, it was hilarious!

3hrs 20mins....fantastic!!... but if the guys are thinking of repeating at MK (assuming they still have the stamina) on Friday that means they' gonna have to start at 7:10pm....otherwise some MK Council 'jobsworth' will be pulling the plug (a la Springsteen /Macca in Hyde Park) probably just before Encore1!!!! :-(

Wolfamongwolves, thanks for great review. I had the same feeling like you, in Vienna.

I was 5-6 rows away center stage and was moving along with the music and looking at Ed. There was no obstacle to the path of my vision at him and suddenly I felt like we locked eyes and shared a moment. I'd never be 100% certain of it but he made a move on stage similar to my swinging to music, before moving his stare. And a few songs later, he said from the mic "I see you" to the blonde, long-haired guy next to me, which makes my experience more of a possibility.
Maybe not something to brag about but still... :)

Superb post, says it all really, incredible show that will live long in memory!!!

One of the best shows I've seen in a very cool venue! Thank you 10C and PJ!

Wow, Epic show. Waited in the rain for my 10club seats and was allocated block 102 row T, best seats I've ever had. Best concert seen to date, RVM was incredible and Mike at the end of Black was fantastic, and then it just got better and better. Really not sure how MK will be after such an awesome show, but still stoked to have witnessed a "great" gig.

Hyde Park 2010 will always remain my favourite Pearl Jam show based on its impact for me alone but last night was just about the most you could ask for out of the band. Having seen them six times, to see a show where the majority of songs played were ones I'd never heard before was mind blowing.

The Siren outro was EXACTLY what I was hoping it would be, All or None is in my Top 5 PJ songs and I never even dreamed of hearing it, the crowd was GREAT and very jumpy during Mind Your Manners (which I was afraid wouldn't happen), first time seeing Baba, never EVER thought I'd get to rock out to The Real Me/Leaving Here, DON'T GIMMIE NO LIP, Breakerfall... too many highlights.

The best way to sum it up for me is that when I finally got to take a look at the setlist I'd completely forgotten that they'd played Hail, Hail, Who You Are and Wishlist.

I also remember that, having jumped, head-banged and sang for 3 hours, I was simply clapping my hands together at the end of Alive thinking 'this is the greatest band on the planet'.
