the US where this >< close!!!

before the game, I thought a tie would have been a great result, but since they were so close to winning it,, makes it tough to swallow

    on the positives:
they played amazing against the 4th ranked team in the world.
they were able to shut down Ronaldo.
they got 1 point from tonight's game
    they beat Ghana!
bottom line, they are still in it!

Yes and I liked Dempsey and Klinsmans take on it. I am sure it was a tough beat but they both had a positive, forward looking outlook. I liked when Klinsman said beat Germany, and not just get a point by tying. I wish I didn't have to work during the game Thursday.

As one would expect from those 2, but, I looked at the faces of some of the players coming off the field and I didn't like what I saw. Tough loss NO DOUBT, but they have to stay positive no matter what. They have a chance at something special here. The big guys have to grab a hold of the locker room and keep it together. Huge fucken game vs Germany. What a fucken funny way things work out. An ex legendary German all world player coaching against his country. Fucken Disney movie on the line boys! Bring on the GERMANS!!!! >:/

A loss could fuck either team. A tie gets both through. I expect a very boring game and a very exiting game on the other half of the geoup

How is the EXTRA time added calculated?

They add up any stoppage time and tack it on at the end.
How come they just don't stop the clock?

Lets say that the USA loses to Germany 2-1. What are the chances they still advance?

Only in America does a guy who gave up the ball in the offensive third get blamed for the loss. Bunch of fucking morons. First 70 minutes of the World Cup he was awful, he played fine tonight. It's cute America blames the guy who gave up the ball at portugals 18 over cameron who let 2!!! 2!!!! Guys get behind him

He's made two crucial turnovers in the first two games, hit an open shot DIRECTLY at the only defender in the goal, he knows to shoot low to the post and he should have put that ball out in the final 30 seconds, my daughter who plays U9 knows this.

They still advance with a tie between Ghana and Portugal, or if they hold the tiebreaker(goal differential) over the winner of that match. So they have a decent chance either way, but I want the win!

YES, just win the game and all of that other shit(AKA:tiebreakers) won't matter.

    I picked four teams before the start of the tournament, and so far every one of these teams has won both of it's opening games and is on 6 points. =;

But I didn't pick Holland, and they're looking pretty fucking awesome.

I can't believe that a goal is scored in imaginary time to tie a game and that's it. I'm trying to get into soccer but that is just plain disappointing.

That is the sporting equivalent of when Tommy is getting made and Jimmy gets the call in the phone booth.

    Jimmy Conway: Yeah.

    Vinnie: Yeah.

    Jimmy Conway: Who's this?

    Vinnie: This is Vinnie.

    Jimmy Conway: Vinnie, what happened?

    Vinnie: Well we-...

Jimmy Conway: You get it straightened out?

Vinnie: No, we had a problem... and uh, we tried to do everything we could.

    Jimmy Conway: What d'you mean?

Vinnie: Well, you what I mean. He's gone, and we couldn't do nothing about it.

    [pause]

    Vinnie: That's it.

Jimmy Conway: What d'you mean? What d'you mean? Uh...

Vinnie: He's gone. Uh, he's gone.

    [pause]

    Vinnie: And that's it.

Yep. Ridiculous. Anyone who puts all the blame on Bradley doesn't have a fucking clue.

Bradley as god awful. He's played horrible in both games. Bench his ass!!!!!!

Yeah, good call. Let's bench our most important player. This team wouldn't have a chance without Bradley.

Not for nothing but the great ones score those shots Bradley missed. Now in no way am I comparing him to the great ones, hence why he missed. They didn't lose the game because of him. They lost the game cuz they couldn't hold the ball or withstand the push Portugal came at them at the end. It's all about control and possession. 15 seconds from the knock out stage. Unreal. Look at what Madrid did in the champions league final. Great players and great teams play the game until the FINAL whistle. We should've done that yesterday. Not dead yet so let's push boys and go to the next stage.

Edit- and I fucken HATE Ramos and Madrid, but can't say they ain't great. On that note, puto Madrid, fuck Cristina!

My melon head is getting better =((
theres a vicius elbow over Meireles from rasta Nº15, a very possible penalty over Nani(0-1), and wtf did you went and hit the floor so mutch?? didn't expected from USA sutch poor fair-play...
guess you were punished for that

now like a needle in a haystack if we win 5-0 over Ghana we can still make it...this is unbelievable shit, i can't do it 8-|
half our team is injured or out of form, worse timing ever
Howard is the man, wonder if he remembers this one:

That's what worries me. Ghana is clearly better than Portugal right now. US and Germany need to kick the ball around for 90 minutes.

Yep. There were 4-5 US players back when Bradley turned the ball over with 2 from Portugal and they was able to get behind them. That is unacceptable.

Bradley has not been perfect but he was a lot better yesterday and had some outstanding tackles in the defensive third. Yes, he should have buried that goal but the fact of the matter is the US took a 2-1 lead with 30 seconds left and the defense let that goal happen.
