Release, Miami, 1994...beautful outside ampitheatrer on Biscayne Bay (Bayfront Auditorium) in Miami. Perfect night. Perfect opener. Smokin setlist. Back then, PJ hammered you into submission. They would do sequences like Go, Animal, Dissident, Even Flow, State of Love and Trust...or Deep, Rats, Blood, Balck, Alive, Porch. When I left this show I flet like I had been pummelled. What a great feeling.

I had just turned 17. Friends and I paid out the ass for GA (thank god they weren't fakes). I remember it much better than I should after all these years. They were my favorite band already, and cemented a life long obsession because of that show. It was ridiculously awesome.

Mine was Sirens at Voodoo festival too! Unforgettable experience. That was such a good setlist too! Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns...... I cried like a baby when I heard the piano.

Most definitely!! The only problem with the setlist was we got zero Binaural for our first show! Lol

I know - Nothing As It Seems would have made my life, but I'm still hoping they'll play it at ACL! Do you go to LSU? If so, you've got to be the first person I've (sort of?) met that doesn't listen to Jason Aldean.

This is rather amusing. "Oceans" has been one of my holy grail songs since forever. I saw PJ at lolla '92 in Vancouver but I really didn't become a bigger touring until the Yield tour (where Missoula would be my 2nd show).
I thought Vancouver '13 was the first time I got "Oceans". It turns out I was wrong. They opened with it at that lollapalooza set in 1992 (according to the tour page). So Oceans is my first PJ song live. I really wish I remembered more of that show. It was so looong ago. I didn't become a die hard PJ fan until 6 to 12 months after that show.
Being my first PJ show, I was already more than excited to say the least. I was 10th row on the floor (reserved seating in the pit back in the day) The lights went down and the crowds cheer was electrifying. The first notes of Betterman played on the guitar just after the band hit the stage. No hello. No intro. Just those notes.
The hairs on my arms and neck instantly stood up and I felt tears building up as Ed let us sing the opening verse. I'll never forget it. And looking back now on how many times that songs been used as an opener....so thankful!
