"A shopper, Joseph Robert Wilcox, 31, of Las Vegas had a concealed weapon and decided to confront Jerad Miller, police said. As he walked toward the suspect, Amanda Miller came up behind him and shot him several times in the ribs, police said."

Perfect example of a false sense of security. If he would have done what they said he would still be alive.

Police are calling that man a hero...

"He had no idea the wife was walking behind him,” the police official said of the murdered man. “This guy (Wilcox) was not some idiot with a gun. To me, he was a hero. He was trying to stop an active shooter.”

He undoubtedly saved lives. He gave his life to protect others.

And you have a problem with that?

I don't know about undoubtedly, unsung. What I've read so far doesn't indicate this.

I feel bad he was killed, though; I'd imagine his intents were genuine.

Now for that Fielder chick, supposedly best friends with the two lunatics...I'd bet she's carrying a heavy load today.

Trained police get it wrong, identifying what's going on and acting appropriately.

I don't want the average Joe helping me thank you very much. My right not to be drug into a gun battle with crooks. How about MY rights??????

Very small percentage of robberies result in someone getting shot. Crooks want your stuff. Have at it. A gun toting paranoid human will make it worse every time.

You can't have it both ways.

Okay. Let's agree on that. Let's all quit equating guns with cars so we will never have to hear that moronic sentence, 'Then, why don't we ban all cars' again.

Isn't this an example that having citizens armed with concealed weapons doesn't make any of us any safer?
    ...
I mean, Mr. Wilcox was not able to identify the number of 'Bad Guys' with guns and paid the price for his miscalculations. I'm not saying he was not courageous... just saying that these types of events are always shrouded by a thick layer of confusion and more times than not, extremely fast paced.
Everyone sees themselves as heroes... how many times have you heard people say, "If I was there... I woulda done... (some sort of 'Dirty Harry' movie scene)?
I'm honest and freely admit... if I hear gunshots ringing out... I'm probably going to run around, screaming like a little schoolgirl. i'll admit, i ain't no hero.

So you want me to register like a sex offender would?

Nope. I want you to license your gun like automobile owners license their cars.

Don't do anything stupid with it and everything will be okay.

You use it for your purposes, but now you don't want to hear about it when it is used in contrast to the opinion you hold dear. Interesting.

Owning a 'firearm' is a right. Owning a military grade AR-15 assault rifle, rocket launcher or tank is not.

Without question... the 'right' you speak of needs to be refined as things have changed considerably since that 'right' was decreed. If the founding fathers could peer from their graves and look at how their vision has mutated over two centuries... they'd be disappointed.

It was incumbent upon the next generation of leaders to adapt as conditions changed. Unfortunately, leaders of your country have placated the NRA and gun lobbyists at the expense of 16,000 deaths per year and nation wide paranoia.

    Did anyone see this bullshit:
We can hope for peace. We must, however, prepare for war. We face an enemy that is not only well funded, but who believe they fight for freedom and justice. Those of us who know the truth and dare speak it, know that the enemy we face are indeed our brothers. Even though they share the same masters as we all do. They fail to recognize the chains that bind them. To stop this oppression, I fear, can only be accomplished with bloodshed. May the best men of our beloved nation stand and fight tyranny, without fear and without regret. May we stand proud as free men instead of kneeling as slaves. May we offer our children a free and just world with our blood, sweat and tears as payment. Let our wives and lovers take vengeance upon our enemies in our absence. We cannot fail in this endeavor of Liberty, if we do we risk leaving our orphaned children to the will of tyrants. We, cannot with good conscience leave this fight to our children, because the longer we wait, our enemies become better equipped and recruit more mercenaries of death, willing to do a tyrants bidding without question. I know you are fearful, as am I. We certainly stand before a great and powerful enemy. I, however would rather die fighting for freedom, than live on my knees as a slave. Let it be known to our children’s children that free men stood fast before a tyrants wrath and were found victorious because we stood together. That we all cast aside our petty differences and united under the banner of Liberty and Truth. May future generations look back upon this time in history with awe and gratitude, for our courage to face tyranny, so that they could live happy and free.

It is from that fucking psycho piece of shit murderer in Las Vegas.
See if you can count how many bumper sticker/Sean Hannity cliches in his minifesto. And they aren't even exact quotes... they're spoken sideways, regurgitated rhetoric to sound like an original idea.
And really... what fucking 'oppression' are we under? Seriously, if you feel oppressed... please, explain it to me because I can't figure it out.
I mean, I understand the whole NSA Machine pointing at us... and the way corporations and uber-rich people run and control the money systems... and that a small number of overtly rich people own the representatives in Washington... but, 'oppression'.
Have you been tossed in jail for speaking your mind (not including the time you were rioting and threw that brick through the Nordstrom Window because 'looting' is not protected Free Speech). Or did the police kick in your door at 3 A.M. and take away you stockpile of AK-47s (the good ones... the real Kalashnikovs, not those bullshit Chinese pieces of crap). Or did fire breathing Government Drones burn down your church because of the Wal-Mart Nativity Scene in the foyer?
Tyrant's Wrath? What Wrath has come down on you? Living on your knees? Well.. other than 10 dollar hookers on Hollywood Boulevard, I suppose... but, What?
I really want to know... who here is oppressed and how/what are they doing to you... specifically?

I know I'll look at this time in history, ending with their glorious deaths in a Vegas Walmart, with gratitude and awe. I'm definitely feelin' it.

They went out to Cliven Bundy's ranch and got themselves all stirred up with fellow courageous patriots....

The whole oppression thing is kind of lost on me too.

Taxation is an issue. Unjust laws are an issue. Warrant less wiretaps issue. With some police dept oppression is openly tolerated. Just not at the magnitude to justify killing. There will be more patriots. More guns.

Okay going to lounge car now.

hey look at that. pepper spray works too. to be fair THIS shooter was armed with just a shotgun. takes a bit of time to reload. not like a semi auto weapon that requires about a second to change magazines. MAYBE theres something to that.

Keep trying to distract when your logic that "good guns with guns can't stop bad guys with guns" fails.

But, anyway good on the pepper sprayer.

Trying to figure out how he saved any lives from the article posted. Pretty big leap you are making there to fit you beliefs.

Sounds like he needlessly got himself killed because he thought he would be a hero because he had a gun.

just pointing out that good guy with a gun isnt the only means or method to stop bad guy with a gun. Equal reporting dont ya know. I rather like hearing as many sides as I can , I find that somewhere in the middle there is the truth.

Have a good day Unsung. Hope some joy is found in it. (not that you dont in the first place, sucks having to feel like you need to qualify well wishes)

Sounds like he needlessly got himself killed because he thought he would be a hero because he had a gun.

Fit my beliefs? I live in Illinois, I wouldn't have known about the story of the police weren't calling him a hero. Sounds to me like he was enough of a distraction, or at least enough of a delay that allowed the police to arrive quickly enough to stop a rampage by two possible meth-heads. He could have had a garden rake and people here would be calling him a hero, instead it doesn't fit their agenda because the police credited a concealed carry holder which in turn discredits that anti-gunner theory.
