I recently got the RNDM album and really like it, so I was thinking about giving some of the other side projects a listen. What does everyone think of Brad? Is it worth giving them a try?

I like Brad's first LP, or at least a few songs from it. Very funky.

"20th Century" is a standout song for me.

LOVE Interiors! Start there, with the reissues it should be easy to pick up. I find that album is the closest to a straight rock record they have. The albums before and after aren't as... focused maybe? I dunno, I just find that's the one I go back to the most. Hope you give it a listen!

If you have not listened to Brad I think you will really dig it.
I have loved 'Shame' for 20 years and have their other records too...but Shame really is amazing.
A while back I got an old record store display in perfect condition of their cover for Shame, but my wife will not let me hang it in the house...too creepy. (At 15+ PJ/EV posters up I cannot push it too much with her!)

Okay, hopefully you are familiar with Mad Season by now too, as well as Temple of the Dog.

Big fan of Brad. If you like them, check out Shawn Smith's (singer) other projects--solo albums, Satchel & Pigeonhed.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

  • LOVE Brad! I have seen them seven times. The first two CDs are the best and the others are pretty good as well. Shawn Smith (singer) is a soulful and powerful singer... and loves Prince. I love all his solo stuff as well! Brad is pretty mellow stuff compared to RNDM just so you know.

Interiors and Shame are great starts. I'm a big fan of Three Fish as well. It's a little different, ok, a lot different in style than PJ or the rock tunes of Brad. Three Fish features Jeff A, and Richard S who drums w RNDM. Three Fish - The Quiet Table has a very eastern/indian flavor, while the blue album has some industrial songs, acoustic stuff, maybe odd lyrically at times, but it's good stuff. I had a harder time getting into Tone, but I do like Stone's solo albums.
It's amazing what you hear when you take time to listen.

Don't overlook their most recent album, United We Stand. It's my second-favorite behind Shame.

Overall though, you can't go wrong with Brad.

imho the day brings (interiors) is one of the best songs ever written, featuring Mike McCready on solo

A really a great act seeing them live with such talent. I also saw Satchel way back in the day here in Philly and that was a treat.

Interiors is one of the best albums of the 90s.

United We Stand is pretty good too, I was surprised how much I liked it. Shawn Smith is one of the great voices.

The first 2 albums are great

The 3rd album has its moments

...and then they sort of lost me.

Love Brad. I've seen them dozens of times over the years. I've always been a Shawn Smith fan. Love his solo stuff, his work with Satchel, Pigeonhed and Brad. He is one of my favorite singers, and is also a great guy.
