    To be fair, the low interest rates (under Greenspan who Clinton wisely left in there) coupled with the Internet boom & bust are the wave of the Clinton economic story. The burst was before he left office, but it was an unprecented event. It couldn't keep trending upward as it was. Too much too quickly.

    Some have argued that sending the FTC after Microsoft started the burst. The downward trend started tehre. You can't prove it either way but it should be mentioned.

    Under W, Bush immediately lowered tax rates, including the largest pure rate cut (from 15% to 10%) for the lowest tax bracket. That's right; the lowest rate cut went to the bottom. Of course the rich received a larger cut, but this is due to algebra, not mean old white Christians. 2% of $900k is a lot more than 5% of $30k. This probably staved off the recession from being deeper than it was.

    Also, the most recent quarter for tax receipts by the gov't was the second-highest gross ever. Pure numbers, can't argue with them. The same happened under Reagan; though he cut rates, receipts more than doubled from 1980 to 1988. Happened under JFK as well.

    Bush's problem is spending. Plenty of taxes are coming in; just way too much spending. A simplistic statement but yes.

    the dude who has my ticket dropped his cell phone in the toilet in cleveland so i haven't gotten in touch with him but i was told through the grapevine to show up at the ccfa thang to get it.
