I've got that one too. I tried to buy it at the show, but alas, it was sold out. Or I was too drunk to wander around to another stand.coco butter said:The Indianapolis 2010 poster. It's so rare I have one available for sale!!!! Get it while you can!

I love rare posters. I'm lucky enough to have quite a few of the ones people are talking about: S/N 1998 St. Louis, S/N 2000 Blackie, S/N PJ20 Mark5, S/N PJ20 Billboard, S/N Ames Wrigley Variant....I also have a 1998 Ames Chicago/Alpine Valley & a 1997 Ames Oakland. I only collect posters from shows I attend. I had some good luck picking up posters back in the day. Apparently I was ahead of the game....Soldier Field - Jul 11, 1995, Savage Hall - Sep 22, 1996,

my top three rare posters I own would be 1998 St. Louis, 1998 Indianapolis, and S/N Cracker Jack posters. I have a few hung up as well as some PJ20 Ames and my personal favorite would be the Gorge 2005. Love that poster and a great show.
But my rarest poster would be the Miss Awareness Beauty Pageant of 1988 in Queens with local guest Randy Watson and his band Sexual Chocolate!Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.0 -
I have three posters total none of which were purchased at a merch booth so I am curious as to how rare they may be.. I have a binaural tour poster that was being sold in the parking lot after the show and two from the Cincinnati show in 06 they I got in the hallway on my way to a piss break. One is the avacado cover and the other looks like the website background at the time and lists all the cities from the tour.Columbus-2000

and variants might be considered gimmicks to some, but for those of us in search of that rare print sure flock to them. it sucks they are always way better than the originals, usualyy worth the price if you have the money IMO.ShawnZ0 -

That's one of the $2 posters sold at the 06 shows. Not too rare.KC138045 said:

It depends.
When did the band start making official posters? The '96 tour for a few shows, then the '98 tour they had them for most of (if not all the shows) but the copies were very limited (around 200 to 500 per show?). I think it was similar for the Binaural tour. I got a poster I didn't even know existed a few months back from the Portland 2000 show I attended. I think it says there were 250 copies of that one. The Boise show in 2000 didn't even have a poster.
I think after the Binaural tour the steadily increased the quantity. I think the quantity of posters has been increasing since the Riot Act and/or Canadian 2005 tour. I remember their being piles and piles of posters at the Seattle '09 shows. Quite a few at the Gorge 06 shows too.
I think the first few tours with posters would be the most rare. Especially the Yield tour because it was the first tour it was done consistantly. I don't think people knew they were buying collector's items. Most of them probably got thumbtacked to bedroom walls.. lol. The '96 tour too because it was a small tour and I think it was the start of posters.
If you go with unofficial posters (the ones for promoting the show rather than as a memento from the show) then anything old is probably rare. Unless you found a mint copy somewhere, most of them probably got damaged from weather and staples while they are strung to billboards and telephone poles?0 -
the first Ames stuff was around 94 if I recall, I would have to pull out the book...0
-
Obviously the staples/damage effects the value, however how much does the fact that it is rare balance out the damage?0
-
The first official posters I am aware of are the variations of the one I defaced in my avatar from the 95 tour.0

Well there are also some posters from 92 when they were touring with RHCP. I don't don't know if those count since they were a multi band event. Its interesting going on the past tour part of the site. They have uploaded images of all the posters that went with the shows."Mine is mine and yours won't take its place.."

Yeah isn't there an old one that might be the RHCP tour (not the red devil one) but one with a piano sitting on a cobblestone street from like 92 or 93?I met my wife here...you can too! Don't lose hope!0

Blackie and the Missing Link are the hardest to get because out of all of the really rare ones, these actually look pretty cool. A lot of what are being named in this thread can be picked up if you have the loot, but I rarely if ever see these two come up at all.Post edited by 63schoefflin on'08- Camden 1-2 '09- Chicago 2; Spectrum 1-4

there was an Ames Roadkill poster that was one of the first if not the first....gross a dog with its head split open on the pavement. Was an all leg poster for 94. The ugly ass snake charmers were 95. I have seen that piano one pop up from time to time. Blackie I have seen a total of one time in 7 years or so. Anything 98 and below is pretty rare if you want to draw straws you can. The bulls poster I have never seen for sale ever until this auction. I have only seen a shitty graphic of it Kat put on from the old 5H concert chron, this is the first photo of it I have seen. lets face it there are a lot of rare ones. A singular holy grail is impossible to determine as we all have our own to find...
again anyone with a spare bulls on I have billboard PJ20, munk pitts, munk/dabs wrigley, bucnh of other I would consider packagin.0 -
