Be careful in the "Stone Zone."
  • Glad to see people enjoy stone zone! I wore a shirt to randalls island in 96 that said "I wanna be in Stone's Zone". Lol, wish I still had it, shit would be worth... What, maybe a sevens?

Just watching him jam with Neil or the Mirror Ball Tour, looks like he is really excited to be there.

stone is without a doubt the most talented musician in the band. i think it's safe to say and almost guarantee he gets bored repeatedly playing most of PJ's live staples (DTE, evenflow, alive, given to fly, etc, etc, etc) which is interesting because at the same time he is the most thick headed in the band when playing their more obscure songs that hardly see any love live. his on stage debates with ed are classic and stone always wins. you would think he would be more willing to play some of those tracks we haven't been treated to live in a long time (looking at you binaural and riot act).

i don't think he is mailing anything in live. he just gets in a groove and let's mike and ed be the showman.

My husband is a big music head, and ever since we first started dating, if ever the topic of PJ came up the first thing he'd say is "That Stone Gossard is good. He's a great guitarist. Other than that... eh..." Which is ok with me, obviously my significant other doesn't have to love everything I love or vice verse (I like Slayer but not as much as he does!). But it's true, many times over my 21 yrs of being a PJ fan I've met people who know the music a bit and say "Eh, not really into them. That guy Stone is wicked good. But not my thing really."

That is all just to say, Stone's talent is recognized probably more than anyone else by serious music heads. Everyone knows Ed is an amazing singer and lyricist, but Stone is a stand out to those who dig deeper than the front man. But, of course, I think all 6 members (can we include Boom now or is he still not official?) are each stand outs.
  • Do I smell a new club inside this club? "The Stone Zone"

I like the sound of that lol

Yeah, how are you to know that he's "bored" or "lonely"? If standing in one spot, or not jumping/windmilling around, or not interacting closely with the crowd is his thing and helps him play better and enjoy the show more, then all the power to him. There are no rules saying that he has to "be like Mike" ;) and run all over the stage etc.

Stone can move around if he wants, so I assume he just doesn't want to.

Stone is the dude I'd like to hang with the most.

Stone, if you're lonely...give me a shout. Beers, music, bullshit talk...good times

Haha agreed! I'd like to tag along if that's cool....

I always thought it's cool and all how Jeff and Ed really care about the artwork and everything else that goes along with PJ, but it's way cooler how Stone really only gives a shit about the music. I think he's quite content over there jamming by himself.

A Stone Zone banner needs to be draped over his side of the rail. I guarantee you'll get Mankind that night.
