04/03/94 – Fox Theater: Atlanta, GA [150m]attendance: 4,500
set: Release, Rearviewmirror, Whipping, Even Flow, Dissident, Why Go, Deep, Jeremy, Glorified G, Daughter/(ABitW-II), Go, Animal, Garden, State of Love and Trust, Black, Alive, Blood/(Not for You), WMA, Better Man, Elderly Woman, Rats, Satan’s Bed, Once, Sonic Reducer, Porch/(Androgynous Mind), Indifference.
Notes: Jeff joins Kings’ X, playing bass on the Hendrix cover, ‘Manic Depression.’ King’s X vocalist Doug Pinnick and drummer Jerry Gaskill help out during ‘WMA’ Some lyrics from ‘Not for You’ are thrown in at the end of ‘Blood.’ Prior to asuper ‘Sonic Reducer,’ Ed starts playing drums and Dave announces, “Ladies and gentlemen, Dave Abbruzzese!” Jeff chimes in, “Otherwise known as ‘Four Feet’.” Dave then mocks the crowd’s earlier chants of “Eddie, Eddie!” by mumbling “Ed” several times into the mic, before returning to the drum set. A bit of ‘Satan’s Bed’ (“torture follows reward”) is mixed into ‘Rats.’ Before ‘Porch,’ Ed says, “I think you won, but I enjoyed the fight,” referring to a large banner handed to him, which reads, “Eddie vs. Atlanta.” Meanwhile, the band is jamming to the Kiss song, ‘Detroit Rock City.’ During the long jam during the middle of this incredible version of ‘Porch,’ Ed throws his mic stand at a huge replica of the “boy on the cross” figurine (depicted in the Vs. book) hanging in the background. Ed dons a Cincinnati Bengals helmet and the gold bat wings and climbs the lighting rig above the stage. Staying there through most of the jam, he throws down a dummy wearing a similar outfit. The crowd screams, thinking that Ed has fallen, but he reappears, and starts singing again. Jeff kicks the dummy into the crowd where it is ripped to pieces. Ed returns to the stage using only his hands on the rope ladder with his feet dangling. A snippet of Sonic Youth’s ‘Androgynous Mind’ is intermingled in ‘Porch’ (and the original played during Ed’s DJ show later). The lights are turned up after ‘Porch’ and at least half of the crowd leaves, missing ‘Indifference.’
It should be hard this one but I'd say no contest. Listened to this being broadcast live on FM radio and it was my first experience of live PJ apart from b-sides. Remember b-sides? This was a life changing couple of hours and I've listened to this dozens of times over the years.

I have listened to this countless times, and is ALWAYS my choice for a long road trip in the car. If there were ever a bootleg that I would describe as being it's own "entity", I would say this is it for me. Something about it just creates special for me. I think I always like to go and think about the vibe and feeling at this show and venue, and then the acoustic pre-set. Probably my favorite version of Hard To Imagine on a boot. It's the last song of the acoustic set, and I love how Ed introduces it - "we're gonna play this next one which certainly isn't a usual one, and then we're gonna do everything we can to keep Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers awake tonight."
A lot of people will argue that the quality, mixing, and set list aren't that great from the show - which they're probably right, but I have always and will always love this boot. It really started my PJ boot obsession.

Tough question really. I would have to choice ATL 12. My third show, fond memories of being on the rail on Mikes side, beautiful scenery, cool crowd around me among the 60,000, setlist flows beautifully, musically it's so tight, and the band is in pretty good spirits. Not to mention, the boot audio mix is stellar.
Non-attendance show? That's even harder. Amsterdam 1 and Berlin 1 of 2012 are my "comfort' boots.

Used to be 2005 gorge....Easy, but after the 6-27-12 Amsterdam show, with Release opening ENCORE 1? and then Alone soon after, I am really hung up on that one right now. Still probably Gorge 05 though. Ridiculous show, ridiculous setlist, ridiculous venue. Doesn't get much better than that.....unless they put it on vinyl!!!

LOTL I must have listed to Live on Two Legs 2,000 times, easily. I have other boots that I love and may have listened to 100 times but nothing touches the play that this one has received from me. Funny, I listen to it infrequently now that I so many year's worth of official boots. The last time I played it the experience was like an old best friend from high school stopping by for a beer.
State College Overall but the 95 Soldier Field, 94 Atlanta, 91 Hollywood, 2000 Wachovia Center are all right up there as boots I'm always going back to.

NY 2010 Night 2 is my favorite 'new school show'. The set list, flow AND the crowd (enhanced by a great mix) was perfect. 1996/11/3 - Berlin/Checkpoint Charlie is just an awesome old school show. The band was firing on all cylinders and no major flubs by Ed. If you want the SBD of this and don't have it, let me know. My favorite...
Honorable mention: 2011 9/11 Toronto - night 1 1998 Melbourne
One of my favorite boots and still my favorite show I've been to - State College 03. I really hope they do a nice vinyl vault edition of that show someday!

I also highly recommend 11/4/95 - If Eddie's voice wasn't shot this show would go down as an all timer. The versions of Black and Blood are on another level.
