My official "Rarefied & Live", Melbourne 1995 is definitely my favourite! Then Newcastle 2006, hometown show. Melbourne 2009 was a damn fine show too. And I like first MSG 2003 show... angry and aggressive and great!

I love the 1995 Melbourne...I still have my cassette tapes from when I recorded it off Triple J. I also love the 1998 Melbourne and have that on cassette too, oh the 90's...how different they were.
I am loving the 2013 boots, Charlottesville is awesome :)

  • 04/03/94 – Fox Theater: Atlanta, GA [150m]attendance: 4,500

set: Release, Rearviewmirror, Whipping, Even Flow, Dissident, Why Go, Deep, Jeremy, Glorified G, Daughter/(ABitW-II), Go, Animal, Garden, State of Love and Trust, Black, Alive, Blood/(Not for You), WMA, Better Man, Elderly Woman, Rats, Satan’s Bed, Once, Sonic Reducer, Porch/(Androgynous Mind), Indifference.

Notes: Jeff joins Kings’ X, playing bass on the Hendrix cover, ‘Manic Depression.’ King’s X vocalist Doug Pinnick and drummer Jerry Gaskill help out during ‘WMA’ Some lyrics from ‘Not for You’ are thrown in at the end of ‘Blood.’ Prior to asuper ‘Sonic Reducer,’ Ed starts playing drums and Dave announces, “Ladies and gentlemen, Dave Abbruzzese!” Jeff chimes in, “Otherwise known as ‘Four Feet’.” Dave then mocks the crowd’s earlier chants of “Eddie, Eddie!” by mumbling “Ed” several times into the mic, before returning to the drum set. A bit of ‘Satan’s Bed’ (“torture follows reward”) is mixed into ‘Rats.’ Before ‘Porch,’ Ed says, “I think you won, but I enjoyed the fight,” referring to a large banner handed to him, which reads, “Eddie vs. Atlanta.” Meanwhile, the band is jamming to the Kiss song, ‘Detroit Rock City.’ During the long jam during the middle of this incredible version of ‘Porch,’ Ed throws his mic stand at a huge replica of the “boy on the cross” figurine (depicted in the Vs. book) hanging in the background. Ed dons a Cincinnati Bengals helmet and the gold bat wings and climbs the lighting rig above the stage. Staying there through most of the jam, he throws down a dummy wearing a similar outfit. The crowd screams, thinking that Ed has fallen, but he reappears, and starts singing again. Jeff kicks the dummy into the crowd where it is ripped to pieces. Ed returns to the stage using only his hands on the rope ladder with his feet dangling. A snippet of Sonic Youth’s ‘Androgynous Mind’ is intermingled in ‘Porch’ (and the original played during Ed’s DJ show later). The lights are turned up after ‘Porch’ and at least half of the crowd leaves, missing ‘Indifference.’

It should be hard this one but I'd say no contest. Listened to this being broadcast live on FM radio and it was my first experience of live PJ apart from b-sides. Remember b-sides? This was a life changing couple of hours and I've listened to this dozens of times over the years.

    Truth...

  • Berlin 2010 I could listen to it all the time. It has so many of the off the beaten path songs that I would love to hear in person some day. I haven't found another one that comes close yet.

  • Wow...which of my children do I love the most? Somebody said Randall's Island #2, my first show! For the longest time I loved the Mansfield Trilogy more than anything...how could those shows ever be topped? I mean, they played EVERY song, and did an entire acoustic show, too. But, then I saw the Philly Spectrum Quad shows, forget about it! Those shows, especially the October 30th show, would NEVER be topped. But, then came Amsterdam 2012 #2. OK, full stop, best show ever! But, shit, I just downloaded the 2014 Leeds show last night. No More Calls!! WE HAVE A WINNER! BEST SHOW EVER!! However, we should talk after I go to Cincinnati and Detroit next month...
I was alone and far away when I heard the band start playing!

...I was always a DeadHead, but when I first heard Winston Rodney, aka the Burning Spear, sing, I became a SpearHead too!

i listen to new years eve 92 (Fuck You Marky Mark and Speed Wash) constantly.

edit: disclaimer: I don't own many boots of shows I didn't go to, and I'm not as much of a vet as most here knowing which version of which song on which night on which setlist was the best.

Oh yeaaaahhhhh. Lol! I totally couldn't get bowel movement out of my head. That can definitely get in the way of a landing on better man. =)
(actually, I think it was also because I've never been able to stop thinking that it's all one word for some reason: Betterman. :glasses: )

Agreed on best ever RITFW. It's also just a great show with Ed in a playful mood.

  • Current favourite is Berlin I 2012, that was a superb show.

Was at both nights in Berlin, really don't understand the love-in that night 2 gets - was a good show, but the previous night was just better.

Each to their own of course
