There are lots of people who have one and play it. Why are people doubting that they are out there? Well and in the end, everybody can do what they want with their possessions. Some get happy by knowing that they have it and want to keep it pristine, others get it to sell it for profit and others have a piggy bank they put money in and hope that a cheaper one comes up one day and then just jump on it and enjoy spinning it for the rest of their life. My experience is that when you get your hands on a higher valued LP, it just feels like that big big untouchable thing as long as you don't open it. Once you made the decision to give it a spin it becomes a normal used album. Valued for its musical value, not for the price.
Please, Pearl Jam, consider a Benaroya Hall vinyl reissue!
I posted pics in the Official Benaroyal Hall owners list when it arrived. I'll post pics of it spinning tomorrow. Need to get some sleep now - have to go to work in the morning to earn some more money to spend foolishly. $-)

Yes you did post a pic of your benny to me (and everyone) - that's awesome.
You are person number one with a pic. We have 2000 to go. The only way I can surmise to bring down the price is to find out who the select "few" that have a sealed dusty benny under their bed.

Don't humour him! He kind of just called you a liar! We know you're not. And i guess i'm dumb and stupid too, because i would spend that on one if i had the money and play it the second i got it home. Unfortunately, I can't afford one now or anytime soon. :( Plenty of people play their Bennys.

And there are even people who have more than one. They keep one selaed to collect and the other one is being spun. People are different, and that is good. It would be a boring world if everybody was the same.
I think the price won't go down significantly ever. This is why I am campaigning for a reissue. I don't care what everybody does with theirs. I just want my own. I'm not talking about a widespread reissue that just floods the market. It could be a made to order thing for tenclubbers. The second Benny generation or whatever you want to call it. Leave the order window open for a week. Make the packaging and the look of the lps a little bit different. Give the proceeds to charity. My god, so many people would be all over this! Even the collectors would want to have one, so they had something to spin if they kept their Benny sealed...
I loved that because of reissues I was finally able to get my hands on Above and Blind Melon. I couldn't be happier with the reissues. They didn't make me poor and they sound fantastic. People are still trying to find the first issues, so the collector value didn't really go down. It would be just something like this...

Guess I'm number 2 to post a picture. Sucks when facts get in the way of a good story.
Can't wait to spin it when I get home tonight!

There are also people who bought one because it was cheap and very cool at that time. There wasn't really any indication of how rare it would turn out to be. People played it once, preserved it as is sealed or played it a lot. The secondary market is tempting for some. That is a lot of money to pass up if you are really not that attached to it. Doesn't make everyone a flipper, or not a fan.

People don't owe you a picture. I have a sealed Benny. No, I am not uploading a pic for you just so you can satisfy some sort of misplaced curiosity and prove a point.

what dumb logic. That's like saying uncorked wine or scotch is just "wasting away" on the rack. It's called collecting a rare item becomes even more rare by the day. I have both the vinyl and cd of Benaroya. I won't open the vinyl becuase it is cost prohibitive. Does the cd sound as good? No. But it 's not bad either. If you don't get it than you don't get collecting either.

Most people with vinyl don't even have a nice enough system to be able to tell the difference anyway.

I couldn't care less if someone opens their vinyl or spins it. Its their property, they can do what they want with it.

never understood the fascination with this one, so many shows are better and if you just want to listen there's other forms of media so it virtually has to be the investment
With Benny I never got around to opening it when I got it, bought the cd and listened to it enough. Years later I started noticing how much they were going for and I actually thought that I had opened it during some drunken night of spinning vinyl, but to my surprise it was still sealed Opening Sevens is quite tempting though. I didn't buy any record to sell or play or anything, noticed that they were available and just went for it. Sevens is actually the most I've paid for PJ vinyl, not counting the box sets.

Exactly, I don't even like the sound of Benaroya recording, too much echo, if it would sound more intimate/close/punchier I would be tempted to break open the vinyl and give it a listen, but I got bored of the show by the time the vinyl finally arrived back in the day.

Collectors gather things.
I feel that Pearl Jam music is not meant to be gathered but rather it be heard/shared in all possible ways.
