Of the openers I have seen...and ranking them ONLY as effective openers (popping the crowd, getting the show going) I would rank them like this:

    Release
    Of The Girl
Small Town (every casual fan in the crowd is so happy)
    Pendulum
    Hard To Imagine
    Unthought Known

Someday Oceans will crash this list...someday...

As a veteran of a massive ONE show I feel pretty lucky to have been treated to Given to Fly. Such an uplifting opener really set the night off.
Having said that, I would love to hear Release open, always been a heavy track for me.

    Of The Girl
Wash holds a special place for me as it was the opener of the first show I attended and was so happy to hear it again 2x again this tour. It's a great bad ass, slow burner song. Perfect opener. However, Of the Girl is the one that I am dying to see. One of my top favorite of all pj songs.

Why Go is a killer opener. Nothing sets off the energy like hearing those drums to start off a show.

I think best "non-traditional opener" could be its own interesting poll. Go, Why Go, Small Town, Interstellar Overdrive --> Corduroy, etc.

The only bad Pearl Jam opener is an opener you miss because of traffic or beer lines.

I swear I read someone say Ole on the other page... Oh god please say they were kidding. And if they were serious, this world is more fucked up than I ever could imagine.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

    Of The Girl
A tricky vote, with Of The Girl narrowly beating Hard To Imagine,...well, for me anyway.

    Release
Come on people, Release is THE quintessential PJ opener. Their most powerful song in my opinion. I would rank Hard To Imagine as second, and Wash coming in third.
