Misguided hate?

First of all, I don't identify myself as either liberal or conservative. I'm an independent thinker, and I'm equally suspicious of all politicians.
I went to the Oakland show on this last tour, and Eddie brought up Dick Cheney and made a little speech about how he is anti-gay. Seriously? Eddie still gives a shit about Dick Cheney?
When Obama was running for office he was proclaimed to be the "savior" and he was supposed to change the world. Now here we are 7 years later and the world is still as shitty as it was when Bush was president. Admittedly, Obama wasn't as great as Eddie or any of his other supporters thought he was gonna be. We are still in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now we are molesting Syria. The economy is still shit. The liberals invested so much time and energy into hating and bashing Bush and Cheney, and now they've been gone 7 years and things haven't gotten better. The problem, though, is that they can't bash Obama the way they bashed Bush and Cheney because they already said he was going to be the Savior. So, they wind up awkwardly still bringing up Cheney and bashing him for being anti-gay because that's all they've got now. They can't bash Cheney for anything else anymore because Obama has done the same shit. (Complacency is a form of acceptance, and Obama hasn't really undone any of the stuff that Bush/Cheney did, which implies that he supports it.)
I'm convinced that the President is merely a figure head for some larger power that's in the background. He's just a cog in a wheel and he does as his masters bid him to do. That's why things never REALLY change no matter who we elect, and that's why investing all your hate in a particular president is silly. "Don't hate the playa, hate the game."

If this is the case... then, what change is next president going to affect? Will it matter if he is Democrat or Republican?Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

I think the only way things can REALLY change is if the masses stop being ignorant and truly realize that voting on the president with the current system is just being presented with the illusion of choice. It's not real choice. At the end of the day, anyone who is elected from the major parties is going to maintain the status quo and not make any REAL changes.
People have to wake up and stop voting for the people that the system puts in front of them to pick from. The people have more power than they have ever had, in terms of spreading messages to each other, thanks to the internet. Traditional media distribution is dying and the internet has taken over. The old farts in Washington don't understand the internet. This is a young person's medium, and anybody could start a campaign and spread their message through youtube or whatever and potentially reach hundreds of millions of listeners. We have more grassroots potential and power than we have ever had. We just need somebody genius enough and brave enough to pull it off.0 -

I still don't think it will matter because the whole thing is run by money. And the people with money are the only real constant in the equation. President's come and go... as do Senators and Representatives... but, the ones with the money and thier lobbyists remain forever.
The only REAL way is to overhaul the ENTIRE system. Replace ALL seated politicians.. and YES, this means Rand Paul, too... and start with a fresh slate.
...
But, the only real truth in that is that it is only a real fantasy.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

The only thing missing in this equation... money.
Money buys elections because everyone knows, the masses cannot agree on anything. That is why it is best that a smaller number of people with vast amounts of money decide on policy issues to keep the masses ignorant and ensure their wealth continues to grow.
And by 'best'... i mean best for the people with the money. Who cares about the masses? The masses think they are free and living the good life and do not want to know how it really works.
...
And yeah... the message reaches the millions of young voters... but, guess what? Those young voters need to get off their asses and vote, too.Post edited by Cosmo onAllen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Or as Russell Brand suggested... don't vote. It is becoming more and more apparent that any candidate is going to prove to be a puppet for their masters (big business). Do you think your vote will actually make a difference when you are choosing between, say, Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin?
The voting process ultimately divides the country into halves where, anytime shit hits the fan, one side points the finger at the other side blaming them for what has happened thinking 'their guy' would have done better. The 'side that lost' thinks that things would have been better had they won. This is delusional thinking.
Objectively speaking, I think Obama is miles ahead of Bush and Cheney; but I too am disappointed in the fact that in his second term, he has failed to lead in the manner many had hoped he would."My brain's a good brain!"0 -

We already have Term Limits... it's called 'Elections'.
Term limits will make sure that the LobByists remain the one constant in government.

What happens when the person that is really effective in getting things done gets elected? He gets ousted by the term limit, not the will of the people.

The thing that needs to change?
US! WE THE PEOPLE need to change and quit bickering about Republican this and Democrat that and Liberal this and Conservative that and get the right people in office. WE need to stop listening to broadcast media and study the voting records of our representatives. WE need to quit looking out for only those interest in our back yards and consider our nation... AS A WHOLE. WE need to do the work.
Which is why there will never be a real change. We are too fucking lazy to do the work.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

maybe this could be happening now...a little at a time ? the younger generations are becoming more involved with the world around them, maybe it's up to us to teach our kids that they have the power to change things...maybe ?

But, once the law is set, it is extremely difficult to repeal.
And WE, The People, are the problem with the continual campaign cycle. We need to quit accepting the crap that the FOX News vs. MSNBC are feeding us. WE need to wise up and understand it is in FOX's and MSNBC's best intrest that the captivate our interests. WE need to quit getting our lessons in U.S. Government, U.S. Politics and U.S. History from Cable Television Op/Ed stations that pose as journalism.
As long as we keep eating that shit and believing they are looking out for us and recognize their lies and half-truths... we will never awaken from this political nightmare.
