I kept saying - no more Brian photos. But I can't resist. When he comes in my office he likes to hop on this chair and then he throws his leg across the top. It's so - sort of jaunty. And my husband had his phone and took a picture.

I was in vegas for 4 days (another story)....codie stayed home and when I left, gracie was not doing real great

. gracie's important white blood cell counts were both around 1000....the vet was worried about an infection so she put gracie on antibiotics. gracie's lymph nodes were still big. she wasn't eating. codie skyped me on sunday and she (codie) was crying

. gracie was in the backgound, confused about where her dad's voice was coming from. it was not a good scene and I was crying too for the first time

yesterday, gracie went to the vet...her white cells were above 11,000 (11 THOUSAND = way better)....I got home....gracie ate pretty well, she had a blast at the park today (she even got into the butt-in-the-air play stance

) and is 1000% better. maybe she thought her dad had deserted her :? . never!!!

her days are numbered.....but she is still a lovable nut. :angel:

my last post was tuesday....it is now saturday.

on thursday and yesterday, gracie ate nothing. she didn't even want treats. we called the vet thursday night and she suggested pasta. gracie had no interest. luckily, she was still drinking her water. we tried every treat in the cupboard and gracie had no interest in anything

we really thought yesterday was "the day." gracie had thrown up four times in the past two days...her poop was soup.....at one point, I said to Codie "get ready to go." but gracie did not seem to be suffering, so we wanted to buy one more day and have some friends come by last night to see her for one last time.....we called the vet, described what was going on and the vet said gracie would probably make it another day...well, once again my niece and nephew (aka "the kids") pulled gracie out of her funk....gracie was running around and playing with her toys. even then, we kind of figured gracie would perk up just to please her visitors and still thought today would for sure be "the day" (even tho her "recovery" last night was amazing).

we woke up today....I didn't want to get out of bed....and gave it one last shot before what we thought was the inevitable. I went to the store and bought some white rice. GRACIE ATE IT!!!!!! she ate again at dinner and has turned back into the "treat monster," wanting a treat at every turn. no vomitting today and her poop is way better. we know this won't last forever but, for now, it's a christmas miracle! a lot of credit goes to my niece, isabelle (below; picture from last night)

gracie is the toughest girl we know
